Wifi won’t turn on, please help!

Hi Everyone,

Really hoping someone can help me, recently my minix box refuses to connect to wifi. When attempting to turn the wifi on in settings the switch remains “greyed out” instead of switching to blue in colour to reflect it is on. I have spent hours trying to remedy this online, and whilst there have been no specific solutions for Minix devices I have attempted several solutions that I’ve found online for android devices in general but none of these have worked. I have tried completing several master resets of the box itself, I have trialled
a process to gain root access and delete a file in a wifi folder which has fixed many other android devices with the same error, I have tried a bunch of apps from google play like wifi connectors and one that was to enable and disable aeroplane mode, I have literally trialled everything out there and nothing works. Ethernet connection still works but I’ve moved house and my tv and router are now on opposite sides of the room. If there is an online article or YouTube video about android devices failing to switch on to wifi, I have read it and tried it and nothing has worked, the wifi switch will move to the “on” position but stays grey in colour and then if you exit out of settings and go back into wifi the switch is back in the “off” position. Has anyone encountered this or more so is anyone aware of a fix? The box seemed to start doing this when I picked it up to move it whilst it was still plugged into a power outlet and the cable for the power came out whilst the box was running/powered on. I’m not overly technically minded - I’m capable of fully customising Kodi but that’s as far as it goes for me, so if anyone has a solution if you could really spell it out for me that would be appreciated! I’m really looking to understand if it’s a software based issue, if so I’m assuming it should be something I can fix, but I’m guessing this could be a hardware fault and if so I guess I don’t have any options? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the antenna?
Have you checked the router?
Try giving the device a static IP address so there are no conflicts with other devices.

so I guess I don’t have any options?
If you can't resolve the WiFi issue, options are...
Run a long Ethernet cable.
Purchase Powerline adapters.

suggestions as @Villa above

plus, reading your post ( which was difficult , needs breaking up a bit to make more readable) then as you have been trying to root to delete files, adding several wifi apps etc then i suggest a clean firmware install prior to anything else.

You mention previously using ethernet....

....Have you checked the basics of turning the ethernet switch off on the U9-H first? Is the faked WiFi status off too, (just in case)?

You mention an awful lot of further troubleshooting but have you first ensured you've covered the basics? I don't wish to sound condescending but you'd be amazed how frequently people completely miss the most obvious of solutions lol ;).

It shouldn't stop the WiFi actually activating on your U9-H, but have you forgotten you're using MAC filtering or anything else like that? Otherwise, start again from the top without using all sorts of apps, rooting, etc. If your WiFi won't activate after adjusting a few simple settings on the U9-H, then work the problem from there.

Provide a simple list of everything you try from scratch ;).
