Windows update problem at 1809

I just upgraded my Z83-4 to 1903
Appears to be working just fine.
Only problem was an error "couldn't update system reserved partition" but resizing the partition using a free partition manager fixed the problem.
The update took hours and sat at 0% for quite a while.

Check this out....

It has to do with MS fonts in the boot sector taking up space.
It's worked for me every time I've had trouble with this error. Takes 1 minute.
I'm on 1903 build 18362.295 with no problems and still 11.7 gigs on the HD.

Remember to delete old windows update files after updating.

Cheers,

What is a shame with all this is that the 'workings' seem so specialised, that Win OS updates fall down and we have to wait for a tailored version direct. Also that someone should have future-proofed the spec, as obviosly 32Gb is too small for general PC use.

I recently had two Z83-4's update to Windows version 1903 with no issues!
Also I have a Z64-W which has updated too.

All devices are setup to store and install all apps (that are able to) and data to a micro SD card.

I was very hesitant to update through Windows Update, and was pleasantly surprised when all went well, as so many have had issues!

Same here with my Z83-4, works fine with Windows update. I deleted all temp files and uninstalled Kodi to have space.

Thanks for positive feedback guys. Just having trouble deleting all 'temp' files as it still asks for more space! Still, encouraged by the good outcomes. Will try harder. Thanks

Skip 1903. Mine updated to the latest v.1909. Used Rufus to burn the ISO to flash drive. Tried to do clean install via USB boot but drivers were an issue. Then booted into Win10 and ran Windows Update setup file from mounted flash drive and the upgrade from 1809 was successful. It took roughly 10GB of free space to do the upgrade, while keeping settings and a few apps that were already installed. Gor most of of the disk space back by running Windows Disk Cleanup utility to remove the the old windows system files and folders.

Win 10 update 1903 successful now. Hard slog but this time round it all seemed to work as if it were 'allowed' to do so by MS Win Update facility?! No driver issues or problems - straight out the box!! Good stuff. (Had to clear down a lot of files/app for space and utilise SDcard but ok).
