WOL on WiFi?

Hi
Was wondering if there's anyway to WOL on WiFi with the Neo Z83-4 Pro?
Here's the scenario:
  • Neo turned off but powered on
  • Magic packet sent
  • Neo turns on
Thanks

@rodolgo-ch I assume your Z83-4 Pro is connected via WiFi and that is the reason for your question?!

If it is connected via Ethernet then WOL will work from a device connected via WiFi on the same network.

My theory is:
When the device is powered off, the Wi-Fi does not even start, how can you wake up a device that is un-accessible.

While for LAN, it's quite a different story.
Waking up a device via LAN requires a device being connected to the LAN via an ethernet cable.
And each device has a unique MAC address.
When you broadcast the "WOL" signal in the LAN, that device should be able to receive the signal (as other devices in this LAN do) as long as that device is in the LAN. Then the device shall be wakened up.

Hello
Yes, that is correct. Some MBs provide the "WOWLAN" feature, but this is not common.
Using the Ethernet port is an obvious solution which I will test - it requires an Ethernet router/AP to wake the Minix up, ie an additional device, which is what I tried to avoid. Also makes the Minix wifi interface useless in my scenario. But not a big deal, really.
Thanks

I always use static IP in the devices that i need.

Use a Static IP (at least for testing) and check if that IP stays the same. Then try to wake up the device.
