YouTube issues

Hi, I am having problems on several U1 boxes with YouTube .. The issue is that YouTube will only play a video for around 30 seconds, then seems to auto pause, click on play and it will continue but will stop again, eventually after at least an hour of messing around with stop start it seems to right its self. One of the U1's had the same issue with BBC iPlayer and YouTube only playing 30 seconds before requiring to press play again. I have done several things in an attempt to solve the problem that include clearing the cache on the app, clearing the cache on the system, uninstalling the app and reinstalling, the apps in question being YouTube and BBC media player and iPlayer. Any thoughts would be welcome with regard to solving the issue, also there must be other U1 users that have had the problem. Thanks.

Helllo.
Do you have the possibility to test in other device?
A desktop with windows for example or a mobile phone.

Are you using wifi or ethernet?

Is your local network (router for example) working good?

Give us more details please:
Firmware version, etc.

Is that problem recent or after a while?

I dont have your model.

Hi .. The issue is with YouTube playing on several of my U1 boxes at different locations ... the issue is with my U1's only of which I have over a 100 used in my business ... not every one has the problem but a quite a few do, they all have similar app builds ... the strange thing is the almost precise 30 second pause .. not buffering ... press start and off it goes for another 30 seconds ... So I am thinking either an update has gone wrong or corruption in the OS .. No issue with my U9H of which I have over 200 in my business .. they are good , and run very well .. Thanks for you offer of help .. I will try re-flashing one when the opportunity presents itself .. that my solve the problem but will not allow me to know the cause and sort a remedy.

Hi .. I have tried several versions of YouTube and apps that offer download ability but they all respond the same, I keep all my boxes up to date and have tried various builds to no avail .. Thanks ..

Hello.
I dont understand your problem very well.
But i think you have to review your lan network configuration.
I dont know also if you use wifi or ethernet.
If you use wifi you may face signal problems....

Try in those devices who have problems a direct connection to the routet (erhernet, this means wired connection).

Restart router and the devices you have problems, for now.

@gdf you can try if you didn't Youtube Video Downloader-Videoder.You can find it on Aptoide.Great app which i'm using very often.

Do you have any refresh rate switching apps installed? I've had similar pausing issues which were triggered by a refresh rate switch? I'm not sure if it's built in system wide like the U1 as I don't own the U9, perhaps others can comment. Lastly, if you have EX File Explorer installed then remove it, as bizarre as this may sound it's proven to cause these kind of issues.

Edit: Doh, you do have the U1, check in the settings if you have Video Self-adaption set to Level 2, try changing to Level 1 and see if this makes a difference.

@gdf sounds like a data bitrate issue. Have you tried looking for WiFi blackspots? Certain areas can be blocked by certain every day objects, radiators, windows, furniture etc reducing the strength of your WiFi signal. If you have issues then use a WiFi network extender or simply move them to LAN only.

Hi, Just like to say thank you to you all who offered a suggestion, unfortunately nothing I tried has resolved the problem ... I have flashed of the four U1's that have the problem and that has for now solved the issue on those boxes, .. I will persevere when I have an opportunity to gain access to others that are showing the same fault ...
I build all the U1's with the same apps and that does include Es File Explorer, BBC Media Player, BBC iPlayer, All Video Downloader, and an assortment of required players for other apps installed, I was wondering if VLC media player might have been an issue but unless it leaves behind changes when its uninstalled removing it has no effect .. I will post should I find a solution .. there must be other U1 users that have had this problem so maybe someone will post a reply with an answer .. But thanks again.

They are at different locations using mainly WiFi but also Ethernet, all use Fiber Internet with speeds 30mbs and above .. I lease them to a Holliday letting business and service them to any specific requirements with regard the national renting the apartment .. mostly English content required but have also Russian, Polish, Swedish, Norwegian, French, generally a mix of Europian clients.. SO .. they are my responsibility and my property. I hope that info helps.

I dont think is a firmware problem but a signal problem or configuration.

Do you use wifi extenders?
Did you check the strenght of the wifi signal on those minix with problems?

Because it is a large area (i think) you must be sure you cover/setup well the area.

@gdf 30Mbs and above wifi speed is for 2.4Ghz.Neo U1 just like Neo U9-H has dual band Mimo which means that he support 5Ghz wifi.Because you have fiber internet 5Ghz is for much bigger wifi internet speeds.Configure in router test it and see for yourself.

FOUND THE PROBLEM App! ... I had access to a box 2 hours ago and after methodically cleaning cache and resetting apps .. to no avail .. I started uninstalling build apps starting with the players required and working through the apps ... after every uninstall and restart and testing YouTube I eventually arrived at "MOBDRO" and uninstalled it, restarted ran YouTube ... and then all was working as should be ... I have restarted several times and the problem has gone, all working and relieved to have found it .. SO a big thankyou to all your positive suggestions and advice .. I will be looking at what goes back on and consider the recommendations. Thanks.

strange...its never caused me any headaches, although i do tend to use an older version than that which is/was most current.
what version do you use? can you link?
and yes, I have read up about it , probably no worse than many other apps at the end of the day ...:cautious:

Many strange things do happen nowadays. My U1 is permanently full of "rubbish" and plays fine. ES has always been in it. It has the latest version that was brought to the Playstore and taken away, apparently for good (I think I am not mistaken when I say the close names we can find there nowadays are taking advantage of the great popularity of that app but are not close to the tasks we could perform with it). I have X-plore but transferring files over the network with this one is painfully slow.

I was hopping that could explain the YouTube issue you experienced as a rule for all the similar events with other users, but I do have Mobdro installed in my U1, latest version, and I never experienced any issues like the ones you mentioned. However since that seems to be the culprit for your case, I will keep it in mind. I truly almost never use Mobdro. I even went to my Settings to see if I had it shut down as I often do with many apps, as I don't like to have apps running in the background, but it was active, I used it last time about two weeks ago and the YouTube app updated twice since, if can remember.

4.1.6

just google for it

I've got 4.2.0.3.4 should be also good.

Thanks for this @gdf. I had the exact same issue and was so frustrated that I was going to dump my box for a firetv. Thanks for your help on this.
