Z83-4 Mini Displayport at boot?

Guys,

What's the deal with the mDP port on the Z83-4? When I attach it via mDP -> DP cable to a displayport-capable monitior, I get no signal and the power light on the Z83-4 flashes oddly.

I know I need an active adapter t convert to HDMI but surely just plain displayport should work?

I have 10 of these so pretty sure it's not a one off... :)

An active adapter is required if you wish to convert the Mini DisplayPort signal to either HDMI or DisplayPort.
