Regarding this...
"There is a known problem if you change the username or password AFTER accessing the NEO U22-XJ
from your Windows PC.
If you do decide to change the username or password at a later date, you’ll need to ....."

I found an alternative method....

After accessing the U22-XJ for the first time under Network this icon appears...

If the Username and Password is changed you only have to select this icon and you should get this screen...

Select More choices, Use a different account

Now enter the new credentials. (y)

I don't quite understand.
I don't need to do what?
No need to input the IP address or no need to delete the users?
There's no need to use Command Prompt.
You can do as I instructed above.

I also tried the CMD "net use" method and the U22 connection wasn't even there!

After I enabled SAMBA with the NEO U22-XJ on my Windows 10 PC I tryed to load SMB shares on KODI 17.7.1 but with no luck !

Samba is not working even with firmware 004FW installed manually on my U22-XJ.

Need help please !

How can I make SAMBA shares work on my U22-XJ with KODI or CoreELEC ????

It's quite a different story on my end.
I also tried to access the U22-XJ by double-click the MINIX_U22 icon in the under the Network.
I cannot access the U22-XJ when I have changed my username or password.
When I go to CMD and type 'net use', there's a account listed there.

After I deleted, I can access the U22 via Samba again.
No need to restart the device.

Are you all talking about accessing SMB shares from Android?

I did not know there was a way to do that! That's why I use only CoreElec or Linux on my U9 which for this problem I would suppose to be the same as a U22.

I am talking about Samba client on Minix connecting to Win/Linux SMB share. I have never used the other way - CoreElec server.

In any event as of Kodi 18 it no longer works with the netbios name - must connect with SMB-IP "XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:445\SHARE" when defining share. That always works for me for the last year or so.

Anybody gets crash of Samba when trying to change Username and password on MINIX U22-XJ?
I got the same problem... can't change the name and password!
Is your problem allready solved RollaJDM ??? I got the same problem here and nothing seems to help ???

Thanks to the developers of the new firmware version 004FW, now Samba works flawlessly. Now all disks on U-22 are open, including external drives (USB, HDD), the average transfer speed in the direction from Windows 10 PC to U-22 over LAN: 5...8 MB/sec

I didn't change anything in the password-login Samba: admin-admin by default, everything clearly worked.

Before solving problems with configuring access via the Samba Protocol, I used not quite convenient ftp access via ES-Explorer, it had to be constantly enabled manually (since there is no full-fledged root) every time you start Android. After updating 004FW, I gave up this method altogether, since Samba solves all the above problems (Samba remains in auto-upload even after restarting): there is full access to U-22 media files from the PC, what you want to erase, delete and edit, etc ....

I am having an issue where Samba stops working. When attempting to connect from my PC, I get a time out - no response. I then disable and re-enable Samba on the U22 and all is working OK again. Alternately, if I restart the U22, the Samba connection is working again.

I am running the latest 004FW and connected to the LAN via ethernet. Somewhat related, I also had an FTP connection, using FTP Server from the Play store on the U22. When I couldn't connect from the PC via Samba, I also couldn't connect via FTP. I also tried disabling then re-enabling FTP server app on the U22 but it just hung on the re-enable attempt - had to restart U22 to get it functioning again. I then uninstalled FTP server, thinkin it may be causing the problem. Not so - Samba problem sttill happening.

I am going to change the LAN connection from ethernet to wifi to see if any difference.

Has anyone else experienced a similiar problem with Samba? Any ideas on things I could try to troubleshoot further?

Have you set a Static IP address for the device or use DHCP reservation (or similar) in your router?

It's best to make sure the IP address is always the same!

May not be relevant, but if you have a VPN running many of them disable LAN connections by default.
There is a good ftp server in CX File explorer ( from playstore) you may want to have a look at
