4k video stuttering; resolution settings

Hi,
I've had the Neo U22-XJ for a couple of fo days now, but I cannot seem to find a way to get 4k playback (from USB SSD pendrives) without stuttering.
I'm using VLC as a player. I've set the hardware acceleration permanently ON.

And one more thing: I have a 65" 4k OLED. Is it correct to set the display resolution to 4k2k-30hz? And why is it that, when I do so, the next time I turn the Minix on the resolution setting is back to 1080p-60hz?

I did not expect things to be som complicated :D
Thanks for your help!

Probably most popular choice for playback of movies is to use Kodi, you should try that and should not have any issues with 4K material encoded in popular formats.

You should try setting resolution to auto select, but either way I would imagine it should be 4K2k@60Hz

Does Kodi support 4k? The highest resolution selectable is 1920x1080p.

The "Auto switch to best resolution" option is off, and greyed-out (not selectable). Very weird. And the highest resoution offered is 4k2k-30hz. I was looking for the 60hz option but there is nothing over that.

Yes it will playback 4K fine, the GUI i believe may be limited to 1080, but it looks like you also have a funny regarding your TV resolution settings.

Maybe try another HDMI cable, and / or HDMI port on your TV ??

Guys, thanks for your help. Here's what I've figured out.

Under the "Screen Resolution" menu, "Dolby Vision" has to be set to "Dolby Vision disable", and "Auto Switch to Dolby Vision" has to be "Off".
This will render the "Auto Switch to best resolution" option available, and, once I set it to "On", it immediately set the resolution to 2160p-60hz (that previously was nowhere to be found), without requiring me to do anything. And that made the picture quality MUCH better, less dark and less stuttering.

This is some seriously useful bit of info that shouldn't be so hard to find. I usually find a solution, but people who are not particularly tech savvy (not that I am, but I'm resourceful :D ) will just return the item to whoever sold it to them. Which is a damn pity, cause this little thing looks/works great.

There is still some little stutter, but (again, reading through forums posts about tv box and android players in general), I've come to realize that is caused by subtitles on 4k files. In fact, if I turn subs off, I don't seem to perceive it anymore.

P.s.: now, after adjusting those settings, I do get the impression that VLC plays 4k better than Kodi.

This is documented in this forum but i agree difficult to find amongst all the threads.

Generally speaking it is best to
Disable Dolby Vision
Turn off both SDR>HDR and HDR>SDR
