The U9 does not use a mobile network which the 3G/5G refers to, instead it uses wifi which is either 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz dependent on your wifi router so it will remain unaffected. The doom and gloom I would imagine is for very old mobile phones that are only compatible up to 3G.
