Anyone have any trouble with the USB3 port?

Since new it works fine for USB2 devices, but for my USB3 external drive it makes noises like it's connecting and disconnecting and never shows up as a drive.
A USB3 SSD does the same.

Sounds like a power issue!

What type of drive/SSD are you using?
 
I thought so too. The usb hdd is a Seagate backup plus slim 1TB. The SSD I haven't got in front of me, but it's a 128GB SATA with a USB to SATA adapter.
