Blocking Advertisements on YouTube

Hi

On my Mac, using Ad Block Plus add-on with Safari, I am able to block advertisements on YouTube effectively.

Please enlighten how to do it in Minix Neo-9UH.

Try blokada. The dns will resolve ads servers to localhost.

No need to use Blokada if only wanting to block YouTube ads!

Doesn't Blokada work by creating a VPN and possibly slowing the connection?

@notrui2 i tested few music videos and i don't see and hear out of sync. It's only suggestion.Let everyone who wants install and decide for yourself.
Yes i agree with you. I only gave my opinion about that app and my feedback.
The person then choose what they like/prefer.

My 2 cents about SmartYoutube

Same as @notrui2 I had quit this app some time ago, it was not playing well with my U1, my last testings had miserably failed so much that I had uninstalled and forgotten about it. Until recently here in the forum, about the YouTube TV app from the PlayStore, the issue about video playing in the U1 came up and @Dogfish brought to my knowledge that SmartYoutube was doing great in his U1 box. I tested it, and to my surprise it was true! This was on the 12 of July, which is fairly recent news.

I kept it in my U1 since then, glad about the recommendation, and accepting I was wrong about my convictions.

Today I installed it for the first time in the U9-H, because of the upper comments, and I must say it is performing very well even with 4k content through WiFi, as it does with the other box.

I went to their GitHub site to find out more about it, as I recalled the bad results in the past, and apparently they threw back many new improvements they were trying to bring up but were causing many incompatibilities with many devices.

It is really worth a try. It is my favourite now. This is not the usual way things evolve and I can only imagine the nightmare of the programmers that had to dump weeks of coding. Hope they keep up the good work.

This is an old thread, but thought I'd comment that under CoreElec and Kodi 18 the YouTube add-on requires no login and has no adverts.
