Bluetooth Headphones ?

Is there a way to add Bluetooth headphones to the U22XJ through the Bluetooth menu?

Sure! Turn on the bluetooth slider in Settings in the U22XJ and put the headphones in pairing mode close to it (the button press or combination depends on the model of the headphones), you should then see the headphones name in the list of the bluetooth devices in range. A popup window will then come up in the U22 asking you to alllow it to pair, once you allow it it is done. I experienced connecting headphones and earbuds and the procedure is the same. As far as I recall you don't even have to change anything in the sound output as they get connected automatically and disconnect when you turn them off.

That is good to hear. I don't have bluetooth headphones yet. I wanted to find out if they will work before I spent the money.
I saw so many with negative reviews due to latency leading to lipsync delay.

Can anyone recommend a low cost set of bluetooth headphones that will work well with the U22XJ ?

We are not allowed to publicise in the forum.

Since bluetooth 5.0 that I don't remember ever having latency issues, and I think you can't find anything on sell with less than that. I had an expensive headphones set (around 175 euros) that last 2 years and 2 months. Quality was good durability was not, or maybe I was just unlucky. And so I replaced them for a japanese set (the make that starts with an s and finnishes with a y), unexpensive, but no noise cancelling, that I have had already for quite some time. I am not very demanding I guess. So for around 35/40 euros you might get something fairly acceptable.

If we talk about earbuds however than I recommend investing in something of high quality, noise cancelation, that won't fall from your ear if you decide to take them on a walk connected to a smartphone.

I don't want earbuds, I am looking for inexpensive headphones.

I understand about not advertising.
Can anyone advise on what features, codec, etc to look for?

I had this issue with my tv. It does not have Bluetooth built-in so I had to get a transmitter/receiver and headphones.

I had a Sennhieser and the latency was so bad I sent them back. I had two different setups from avantree and the latency was so small you could not tell. However all 5 sets of avantree products were either defective from the start or broke within couple of days.

I am looking for information, not specific produce names so as not to violate forum rules. This way I can avoid the Bluetooth headphone issues I had in the past.

I'm sorry if I was not clear. In other people's words that meet my experience:

"Compared to its previous version, Bluetooth 5 transfers data twice as fast and has a range that's four times larger than Bluetooth 4.2. Bluetooth 5 data transferring speeds max out at 2Mbps. As for latency, the worst you can get is 40 milliseconds. Under ideal conditions, the latency rates drop to 20 milliseconds. "

"When it comes to sound, individuals can’t perceive latency below 20ms and many struggle to discern a delay between 40 to 80ms either, although this varies from person to person. Above 150ms becomes quite noticeable. With that in mind, ideal Bluetooth headphones should offer at most 100ms of latency to rival our perception, and the lower the better."

"Bluetooth 5.0 and 5.1 are essentially the same with the latter being a little superior in power saving. Although the leap between the two versions isn’t that huge, choosing the later version still has its merits." ... "Bluetooth has backwards compatibility. This means that a device that can support Bluetooth 5.0 will only be able to support versions earlier than that. If you pair your Bluetooth 5.1 headphones with a device that only has 5.0, you’ll only get to enjoy the features of Bluetooth 5.0, instead of 5.1."

Looking at what is available from the make you mention, in my country, I could find Bluetooth models from around 90 euros to around 300 euros. Amazingly at least one of the models (PCX550) comes with Bluetooth 4.2 and costs 287 euros... I wouldn't go for those if I was to be sure about cutting latency. I couldn't find any Avantree headphones over here, but in the Internet the few models I saw sounded too cheap as noise canceling products to the ones I can find in the market with this spec, but that means not much about quality by itself.

In short: I wouldn't recommend looking for Bluetooth 5.1 headphones as a latency solution. This version is more popular in good quality earbuds for other reasons, and still hard to find in headphones. I wouldn't recommend someone to buy something marked just "wireless" because the radio frequency headphones that are wireless but not Bluetooth are prone to interferences.

This said, I would consider buying Bluetooth headphones meeting the 5.0 Bluetooth version. There is a very wide range of makes and shapes. The time they can be kept alive might be important. Take into consideration some models can connect a wire into a wired output in the device but some don't. These latter said are not possible to be in use while charging which can be an inconvenience.

You mention your TV doesn't have Bluetooth built-in... Regarding the U22-XJ, it comes with Bluetooth 4.1... Although the latency issue is being a constant worry as Bluetooth progresses, it is not unavoidable as I tried to express above.

To avoid latency issues my choice would be to connect the box to a good quality TV set and make sure it has Bluetooth 5.0 and then pair the TV with the Bluetooth headphones instead of pairing with the Minix box. Especially because the coding and decoding between the Minix box and the TV can cause audio delays.

Either than this I can only hope someone comes to this thread with more ideas that might give you better guarantee of success.

Very interesting. Thank you for the information.
There is no way I can afford to replace my TV's but I will consider the information here to look for headphones

Thank you
