Does the Neo U9-H DAC support 24Bit/192KHz ?

Hi,

I couldn't find any data about the DAC in Neo U9-H.
Does the Neo U9-H DAC support 24Bit/192KHz ?

Thanks!

No, the internal DAC maxes out decoding at 16/96 or 16/48 (app dependant).

Obviously audio encoded in a higher quality such as 24/96 - 192, or the source app itself is down mixed to 16/48 - 96, (as applicable).

24/192 is ultimately audiophile level & you'd need a dedicated external DAC for that sort of audio quality, or invariably you'd be looking at far more specialised (& expensive) kit to achieve that ;)!!

(Passthrough function remains unaffected for movies/apps that support it to an AVR for HD audio & Atmos etc.)

Hope that info helps.

....(I would also add that 16/96 doesn't sound at all bad from the U9-H through my audio system, whether streamed via Tidal (Master) or high quality audio locally decoded.

Can I also hear another difference from a system that does support 24/192? Yes, but it's obviously much, much more subtle than say comparing 16/41 to 24/192. (Many just can't hear any notable changes.)

Just how sensitive is your hearing personally, or how sensitive are you to hearing the difference if it's available?

Some, for example, willingly spend a small fortune on audiophile level hardware that can support 24/192 on paper, but if you blind tested them with audio tracks played at both 16/96 & 24/192 a fair percentage would tell you they sounded exactly the same ;)!!)

Yes, that's right. I'm aware the difference in sound quality from 16/96 to 24/192isn't like day and night but I can hear the difference with my Hifi System (Cambridge Audio + Focal). Would an external DAC work with the Minix eg. https://amzn.to/3gdQIg1 ?

Kk :).

In this instance & with what you're actually looking to do, you may be better off seeking more specific help somewhere like the AVForums on this particular subject to ensure you purchase the right hardware etc. There's certainly people there with similar interests that will possess a far greater understanding of the subject in general, as well as anything possibly specific to the U9-H and/or the capabilities of different Android versions themselves too. (Although, as far as I'm aware Android 6.0.1 will support a USB DAC, for example.)

I'd be reluctant to give a generalised opinion or a recommendation based off information I haven't refreshed my memory on for quite some time for you to then spend hard currency! IMHO, it is quite a specialised subject that you'd be better off discussing with others that use or own similar equipment to what you're potentially planning, or who certainly know a lot more about it and/or any potential pitfalls or shortcomings too :).

You are of course welcome to hang around to see what input others may have here as well, but the use of a U9-H as a base device with external DACs & on to expensive Hi-Fi systems isn't a subject that comes up very frequently ;)!
