The u22 is capable to play Dolby atmos?

MINIX official firmware does NOT support Dolby Atmos(based on Dolby TrueHD), because it cannot passthrough HD audio (including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD)

However, if you use some third-party firmwares, such as CoreELEC, Slimbox, then the device is able to passthrough HD audios.
So those third-party firmwares supports passthrough Dolby Atmos.

Time for a stupid question, if Slimbox can passthrough then can you not approach @szkifen and ask how he has managed to do it so it can be implemented in the next official Minix release?

The known limitations of the MINIX U22 firmware notwithstanding, it can still actually convey/passthrough Atmos metadata encoded in lossy Dolby Digital + (e-AC3).

We've been trying to contact them via Telegram, XDA, etc, however, they didn't respond to us.
Don't know why.
If we can finally cooperate with Slimbox, there's chance that we can get Passthrough to work on official firmware.
