Help needed with external storage

Apologies if this is the wrong place but I have no idea where to post or what to do.

I was gifted an old Minix which I think is a Neo U1 judging by images.

it has 11 gb internal storage but I want to attach an external drive which I formatted as exfat

I am using es explorer but I cannot access the drive I can see it but when I click on it I cant access it.

I have tried quite a few things but this is not my forte and I am so lost.

ideally I want to use the external drive as a storage for torrents (have installed ttorrent) but I can't change the directory that ttorrent to use the external drive because I can't see it , I want to use kodi to use the external storage as a directory but alas, same story, cant see the drive.

any ideas? I am at such a loss, ive never used a minix before.
 
Maybe your minix can't read exfat.
Try with a usb pendrive with other filesystem (Fat32, Ntfs).

If your plan is to use it as an external drive for storing downloaded files , best to format it as ntfs.

Also check the drive is functional on your PC.

You might also like to try CX File explorer as the file manager on your Minix

Many thanks, I'm on a mac so will need a 3rd party tool for formatting to ntfs, I'll find something
 
I can see the drive and contents in cx explorer but cannot find it with kodi or ttorrent, what am I missing?
i can't find the mount point
