Hopefully a more current one than 5.1.1, but if that's the newest it can take that's fine
Please help! Thanks
I'm afraid you're stuck with 5.1.1 which is not all bad, I use three Minix boxes daily with Lollipop and haven't hit any snags as yet, touch wood

Yeah but I want to do a fresh install. It came with this Fitness video program and due to poor support with issues with their software and the high price, the local community center decided to cancel the subscription, but owns this equipment now.
They've got all kinds of branded crap installed and set to auto-run, so I'm just wanting to wipe it. If I do the android reset it still reinstalls their software.

I can only suggest sending a PM to @MINIX - John and see if he can assist, hope all works out for you

If you do a factory reset the apps installed are the same apps you have with a clean ROM, because a factory reset erases all of the information stored on the device and restore the device to its original manufacturer settings.

Example:
1-You are with Android 5 ROM and that ROM comes with kodi 16
2-Then you upgrade kodi 16 to kodi 18
3-If do a factory reset you will keep Android 5 ROM with default app kodi 16.

I hope you understand what i am saying.
Dont forget, do a backup always.

If you want to install just the apps you want you dont need to factory reset the device, unless you want to clean everything.

Yeah, resetting reinstalls the 3rd party software
I thought that would be the case.

Unless the minix guys com up with a firmware for you then i can only suggest that you do your best to uninstall any 3rd party software you can.

Maybe you could try clearing cache and data for all the apps you dont want prior to uninstall, although I suspect that thay may be listed as system apps which will be more difficult to remove. Possibly you could disable them ?

Other than that anything else is probably going to be much more difficult unless you prpared to dig deeper into the ROM and i certainly couldnt help you there.
