MINIX NEO J50C-4: Windows 10 Pro OS Installation Instructions

IMPORTANT NOTE: Re-installing the Windows 10 Pro OS image shall wipe everything on the eMMC (C: drive, 64GB) or SSD for models without eMMC.

So, it's important to back-up your data prior to re-installing the Windows 10 Pro OS image.

Instructions for installing Windows 10 Pro OS on NEO J50C-4:

1. Download the Windows 10 Pro OS image from here:

2. Prepare an 8GB or 16GB of NTFS format USB memory stick and rename its title as “WINPE”.

3. Unzip the downloaded firmware file, and then copy all child files and folders to the root directory of the USB stick. (See Firmware files at the root directory.png)

4. Connect the keyboard and USB stick to the NEO J50C-4, power on the NEO J50C-4, then press F11 button and select USB stick to boot in the prompt window.
You don’t need to do anything, just wait for the installation finished. It’ll take about 15 minutes.
If you don't find the USB stick at the list in the prompted window, please check if the USB stick is NTFS. (exFAT is a known format that the device does not recognize).

5. When you see the same window as Cleanup Test.jpg, please click the “Cleanup Test” on the desktop, then the box shall re-start.

This installation process has now been completed.

Hi,

Did the above procedure which finished well.

Still unable to activate and getting the following error: "we can't activate windows on this device because you don't have a valid digital license or product key"

I did install the MINIX ssd and removed it before starting the process above. Also tried reseting Windows because of a faulty office install.

Any thoughts?

I don´t know where you bought your device.
Windows should be activated after you config for the first time windows.

Ok. I think you have now eMMC and a SSD.
Try this:
Restart windows and do a manual windows update (one or two windows updates and windows should be activated)

I presume you still have Windows installed on the internal eMMC?

Remove the SSD.
In BIOS make sure the eMMC is enabled.
Boot the device.
Go to Settings, Update & Security, Activation.

See what it says there.
 
The image is downloading at around 2KB/s to 20KB/s using a download manager (same with a browser). Estimated download time is fluctuating between 8 and 21 hours.

Is there an alternative source to download it from?

You are downloading the Max version which is 8.28 GiB, both @Skynet and @pusb87 files are downloading the standard version which is 5.78 GiB, shouldn't make a difference on the download speed if you are getting it off the Minix server but I thought I would just double check you are after the Max version.
 
Thanks for all your help. The problem was my end. Restarting the router didn't help but a 10 minute power down did the trick. Hadn't appreciated my son had been transferring 2TB of games between his Xboxes all day. It probably needed a rest. :oops:
