Minix Neo U9-H mic issues

Hi

I have a Logitech web cam connected to my Minix Neo U9-H box. And use it for Skype zoom etc. It worked well at the start.

Now the mic seems to be transfering to the built in mic NEO Air mouse and people reporting that they can't hear me. I have reset and reinstalled apps and it works for a while and then mic moves to airmouse. Only options on audio settings on the neo u9 are sll are built in mic (people can't hear me at all) or air mouse.

Any advise on this would be great.

Need to keep the mic on the web cam at all times for Skype etc

Why can't people ever supply basic information?

Which model Logitech webcam?

It would also be a fair assumption that you have a Neo a3 or a3 backlit airmouse? However, please confirm as that's all we can do at this stage, assume!

There should also be an "auto" option under the audio input settings as well!

If your webcam previously worked fine but has recently stopped too, what changes might you have also made to your U9-H recently?

Do you allow all your apps on the U9-H to auto update from the Play Store?

That'd be a good start but please include all relevant information ;).

Hi ArcticWolf

Thanks for the response. Apologies for lack of info.

Webcam is a Logitech C920 HD Pro Webcam, full HD 1080/30fps

The airmouse is an Minix A3.

I have looked at Google play and seems that auto update is enabled on device.

I have tried the auto option also with the same issue. Nd this is what was set as default before issues started

I have not made any changes to device that I am aware of.

Recommended a factory reset?

I have reinstalled Skype etc already

Appreciate the help

Sorry to butt in here and I could be completely wrong so apologies to all in advance. What happens when you press the mic button on the A3 once it has taken over, I know on the A3 Backlit that pressing the mic buttton again deactivates the mic, long shot and again forgive me if wrong.

Hi Marty

Seems like the mic changes randomly during a call to the A3 even if it has not been touched. But next time it happens I could press it to see if it deactivates it.

Cheers

I have exactly the same model and set up as you quote above. The same thing happens to me even if I explicitly select the webcam mic in the audio system settings (not the auto setting). Is there a way to disable the onboard/A3 mic? Same issue regardless if I use Skype, Hangouts or Zoom on the U9-H.
I find that I have a greater chance to invoke the webcam mic, instead of the A3 mic, if after the Minix box has booted, I unplug the webcam from the Minix box and plug it in again, then start the video conf software. I have found that this can make Android hang from time to time though.
The other thing you could do is to start a conference call with yourself to check that the mic input is defaulting to the webcam, before you join your actual call. It's not ideal but it's a workaround.

I've experienced issues with the a3's built in mic in the past that were directly attributable to the Google app. The app was essentially telling the mic to remain live permanently to listen for voice activation. (Not only was this incredibly annoying but it would discharge a pair of batteries every 48 - 72 hours.)

This isn't a persistent issue affecting all U9-H's, it seems an update to the Google app caused some kind of corruption but a small handful of other users have also reported the same problem as well. (My only workaround at the time until I carried out a factory reset sone time afterwards which immediately cleared this issue was to disable the mic input completely (which also worked for others too), but obviously this isn't an option for you as that could also disable the webcam's mic.)

Try turning off the "OK Google" voice activation under the Google settings as this has also helped alleviate this particular issue in the past too. (If the Google app isn't constantly overriding your webcam mic, things may improve.)

Failing that, try clearing the cache & data for the Google app. Or, clear the system cache, & clear the data for as many associated apps as you're happy to clear the data for but remember this will wipe out your user settings, configuration, etc.

I'd also try reverting the Google app back to the factory version, (uninstall updates) & immediately restart the device. Then, let it go ahead & update itself again after a hard reboot.

Failing all of that, as much of a pain as it can be you may need to consider a factory reset too.

Keep us updated if you see an improvement or no change at all :).
