Hello everyone.

I update my Kodi to 18.5 and the TrueHD, DTS-HD options on passthrough are gone. I've tried to reinstall Kodi and i'm only getting the default options (AC3, DTS etc). I've tried to factory reset Minix and tried again with the older version of kodi 17.3. The options are there but i don't have sound at all. Update again kodi to the latest version and the option are gone again. It seems like it not recognized the hardware any more or something like that. I've trier to play files from USB or my NAS server with no luck. My files that is 4K HDR Atmos, are getting stuck and not playing and the kodi player is freezing and must quit the application and force close it in order to respond again. This might be because is trying to downsampling the audio to Dolby Digital and it fails.

What should i do? Any help please?

Thanks in advance.

You need to set Kodi settings to "Expert" to view all the audio options

see also >> https://kodi.wiki/view/Audio_quickstart_guide

The options that become available are governed by your AVR/amp/ sound bar etc that are connected to the MInix, not by the minix.
I can assure you that Kodi 18.5 and Minix U9-H audio options work well.

How is your U9 connected to your AVR ?

First of all, thanks for taking the time to respond and help.

I have an Onkyo receiver, and the Minix it's connected with HDMI to it. Didn't have any problem since yesterday with TrueHD and DTS-HD options.

I can only suggest at this point that you check your HDMI cabling and ensure that in Minix settings that digital output is set to HDMI.

Chances are you've got an iffy cable as mentioned.

If changing the cable doesn't help you may need to factory reset the AVR as well.

iffy cable you mean faulty? I also have PS4 Pro and Xbox One X connected to AVR. I tried different cable (and HDMI port on AVR) and have the same problem.

I tried factory reset as i mention on my first post. I'm going again to double check my settings, but i'm pretty sure that i check it more than 10 times yesterday.

I will post photos later.

Faulty, iffy, knackered, problematic, doubtful, buggered, "of questionable quality", take your pick ;).

Can you please clarify that statement? Are you saying your X Box & PS4 Pro connected to the AVR are working fine or that Kodi 18.5 on the X Box & PS4 Pro also have the HD audio options missing?

You mentioned factory resetting your U9-H in your initial post, not your AVR. (Try factory resetting your AVR as well, or don't try it, it's your choice :).)

It's also not unheard of for HDMI cables to work absolutely fine with one device but have problems with others. (Are your cables all from the same brand or are they a mix from varying sources for example? Are your cables certified?)

The simple fact is, & as you've already been assured by @pusb87 , that passthrough for the HD audio formats functions absolutely fine & as intended with all versions of Kodi 18, & the U9-H.

Your AVR may also have received a firmware update very recently, (you'd need to check). Sometimes these firmware updates can mess up existing settings requiring a factory reset. What's the model of your Onkyo AVR?

You've tried uninstalling Kodi or installed an older version but the problems have persisted. You've tried factory resetting the U9-H. You've tried swapping HDMI cables. The next logical step is to try factory resetting the AVR.

If you'd like to get to the bottom of this problem it's entirely up to you :).

I want to thank you all for your help and support. God bless you.

Your opinion helped me a lot ArcticWolf.

To answer your question about PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, i'm using the Xbox as my main 4K BluRay playback device, and i'm getting TrueHD and Atmos from my AVR. My AVR is the Onkyo TX-NR555.

The problem is now solved. A new firmware update was available on my AVR and after completed that, everything works now like a charm.

Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience.
