Minix U1 - Only 1080P 60Hz?

Hi Everyone,

I already use a Shield and purchased a U1 for another room. I am using a 4k TV that is capable of 24hz so I have set the display of the Minix to 4k2k 24p. I've got the latest kodi build on the play store and I've got the latest Minix XMBC. However if I go into system settings for either of them (Kodi or Minix XMBC), the only resolution I can select is 1080P and the only refresh rate I can select is 60hz. And there is nothing available to whitelist.

With my shield, I set the output of the device to be 4k 23.98 and then in kodi I set the resolution to 4k and the refresh rate to 23.98. Then I whitelist all of the other options. That allows playback of most files without judder. However I don't have the option of doing this with the Minix, it's 1080P 60hz with no other option.

So I tested playback of a 23.976 fps file and I'm getting constant judder. My U1 has firmware FW013.

Am I missing something? Why can't I select 4K resolution in Kodi/XMBC and why have I only got a refresh rate of 60?

Thanks

You would be much better off with the later versions of Kodi (19 or 20), Kodi GUI at 1080p and 60Hz ( rather then 24 HZ as at 60 it will be snappier) and within Kodi settings allow refresh rate changes on Stop/Start.

Thanks both, I'm already running Kodi 20 but will try setting the U1 at 4k2k 60hz and see if that fixes the stutter.

Thats correct but as I said before within Kodi settings allow refresh rate changes on Stop/Start. This should then set the correct frame rate to your TV for your video media files providing your TV is capable of displaying them. The stutter can occur when the frame rates dont match. Some people notice it, others dont !
