My NEO U22-XJ is downgrading 5.1 AAC sound to 2.1 AAC sound. Please help

Then please share how your system is configured connection wise, and all your U22 XJ android audio settings and kodi audio settings so that we can all benefit from your success. :)

Connected by HDMI only. In MINIX Settings - Audio Output set to Manual and all the various sound formats enabled.

I'm using the pre installed version of Kodi, in audio settings - Allow Passthrough, enable the four settings below that including Enable Dolby Digital (AC3) transcoding (which I believe is the key) and away you go with multi-channel audio.

Does your receiver specify Dolby (lossy) or LPCM (lossless)? If it's just encoding it to a lossy signal then this is more of a temporary work-around and not a fix.

I assume it is transcoding to AC3 and passing it through, but I see your point although with my non-audiophile ears I'm sure I'd struggle to tell the difference.

Can you also confirm the Kodi Version number you are using, your Make and Model number of your AVR and the Minix firmware version?
thanks
