Windows 10 Pro OS image [20H2] for NEO J50C-4 Max is available to download from below:

Download Link 1 [MINIX Forum Server]:
http://theminixforum.com:9009/firmwares/J50C-4_Max-Win10_Pro_20H2-Multi_languages-20201231.7z

Installation instructions can be found here [same instructions as NEO N42C-4]:
https://theminixforum.com/index.php...tallation-instructions-for-the-neo-n42c-4.17/

The Windows 10 license key is stored within the BIOS on NEO J50C-4 Max.
Hi John,

I've just freshly installed this 20H2 image to the SSD of a standard J50C-4 precisely following the normal procedure.

However, in the Windows update settings I'm now getting an error - *Some settings are managed by your organisation* and *Your organisation has turned off automatic updates*.

Consequently, the Win Update advanced options for *Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows*, is also greyed out & completely unavailable as well. Apparently, this problem can lead to additional issues & routine Win auto updates are disabled. (Manual updates still work fine but this shouldn't really be happening with a 100% fresh install of an official MINIX image.)

This issue was not previously present if the J50C-4 was updated via Win Update from an earlier official image to 20H2. I also tried the official MINIX 1909 image & this issue is not present there either, it's only happening in this new official 20H2 image.

I specifically configure these devices for home/personal use & the device confirmed that I would have full control etc. etc. in this instance. However, this error/problem was already in the Win update options the first time I checked for any updates & I can't resolve it.

Can you please ask your devs for a fix or instructions specific to the J50C-4 to rectify this issue before too many other users start downloading/installing this particular image, & immediately run into the same problems?? (I've searched online & various different remedial solutions are suggested but none of them have been applicable to the J50 so far. I've also ensured that the diagnostic data is set to full as suggested in some articles as a fix but this makes no difference either.)

I have the standard/original model J50C-4, BIOS v0.17, with a MINIX branded 240 GB SSD & 4GB extra MINIX supplied RAM. Single Windows admin account only, (no additional user/guest accounts have been configured).

(Screenshots attached for reference.)

This option below is completely greyed out & now unavailable in the official MINIX 20H image.

Thanks :).

......I'll probably just end up rolling back to another fresh install of the standard J50C-4 official 1909 image & just let that update via Win update again.

However, I'll hold off on that for now in case you do have a fix for the above issue and/or you'd like that fix to be end user tested etc. (I'm not desperately waiting as I'm still using my N42C-4 for a lot of day to day stuff. It'd just be useful to have the benefit of a system with a little extra grunt as even my trusty N42 with an SSD & a ton of extra RAM can sometimes get a little bogged down these days ;).)

My main concern is the potential problems this may cause other users installing this specific image TBH.

Hope it has a simple fix that wasn't detailed in one of the several articles I read through attempting to fix it myself :).

I did not try minix 20H2 (in any device) but you don't need to roll back to 1909 minix version.

However i can tell you this:
It is much quicker if you install windows 20H2 from Microsoft and after that install the drivers ( if you need) .
I am using Microsoft ISO (20H2) on all my windows devices 🙂 since the version came out (october 2020) and they are working great.

If you haven't actually tried the official MINIX 20H2 image in this thread yourself then I'm unsure how this helps to resolve the reported problem??

I also don't understand how it's any quicker? It took about 7 minutes to install the official MINIX image to an SSD from a USB flash drive & I didn't have to mess around afterwards installing drivers etc.

Please read post #3 Rui. That's why I may need to roll back!!!
I have read your post.

Let me explain:
If minix image (20H2) doesn't work for you well why don't you use Microsoft ISO?

One advantage of using Microsoft ISO:
If you have two drives you can format only System drive and leave the other one untouched. (Without having to enter BIOS...)

For me there are more advantages of using Microsoft ISO than minix image

You're completely missing the point Rui.

Please THINK of other MINIX end users who may also want to use this MINIX image & NOT just what works for you!!

This 20H2 image was created & made available for other end users to install to their devices who may not want to mess around sourcing separate ISO's etc. etc.

I wrote that but of course if the image is not working well then it needs to be fixed.

@ArcticWolf

You could try this image from J50C-4 plus: (until it is fixed)
https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/neo-j50c-4-plus-windows-10-pro-os-image-20h2.3779/

I think (if it is working well) the only difference is that in the system info section it will say that the model name is J50C-4 plus . (I did not test this image).

Rui, thanks, but can you resolve the issue I've experienced with this image?

Ultimately, that still doesn't address the original problem or help other users if they install this image & then also experience the same issues. (I've already explained in a previous post that I would wait anyway if it will help confirm that it can be resolved.)

If it eventually comes to that & this issue just can't be rectified using this image on a standard J50C-4, then I'll look at another option. (Although, it's been specifically stated that this image is compatible with a standard J50C-4.) However, let's just wait & see if MINIX have a resolution for this particular issue rather than arbitrarily trying different images in the meantime.

It's possible an advanced setting that I've missed or just plain unaware of, or a registry edit could immediately fix this on a standard J50C-4, for example. That being the case, other users will need to be made aware of that if they plan on using the image above or MINIX can simply readjust the source image to include a fix.

Just happen to install the Windows 10 Pro 20H2 avaiable at his forum, but now I can not remove it from Windows Insider Program, as I don't have the account to do so.

Is there any workaround wihtout re-instaling the Windows again?

If going to 2nd option, where can I get a proper version?

The default image that came with a new J50C-4 Max had 'this is managed by your organisation' for Windows Update. A simple fix (at least it worked for me) is to disable the service, then reboot, then start the service (set to manual - trigger start) and then reboot once more.

Thanks for the input & one hopes it may at least help a percentage of users experiencing the same issue :).

I attempted the workaround you've just mentioned before my original post about this problem too. Alas, that also didn't work & I never did manage to correct this issue. As you can also see, MINIX never did respond either! (I tried 5 or 6 different fixes as reported on other sites but so far, no joy :(.) I've had an upgraded N42C-4 that's run absolutely fine for a long time now, so the J50C-4 was temporarily relegated back to its box (again) to await any additional input, and the time to have another go at fixing the problem in general.

Nevertheless, this is yet another problem that MINIX themselves haven't responded to at all on the forum which is a shame as a large number of users still remain affected by it or certainly will be if they use this official image which can apparently be fixed in minutes at the source!! Of late, end users are essentially being left to search down potential fixes or workarounds for themselves from various other 3rd party websites for Windows, or other hardware entirely :(. Otherwise, sadly these ongoing issues remain unaddressed for end users to attempt a fix, (or potentially make things 10x worse in the process.)

Additionally, these devices really shouldn't be shipped to end users by MINIX with such a fundamental problem affecting them as stock anyway. Neither should the update system even be locked to MINIX or any other organisation. (Clearly, this is another basic oversight with the official firmware release not having this kind of bug removed first.) Expecting end users (who may have no experience of what to do at all) to start messing around in the registry to fix this sort of problem from a brand new factory device is ultimately asking for trouble too!!

The official Win images need to be corrected for this problem, & there's really no excuse why they haven't been by now either IMHO.

I will check my bookmarks as I did find an alternative solution that I don't believe has been mentioned here. Will post when I've found it and back on main workstation (J50C-4 Max is my HTPC).
