Neo U1 Issues

Ok guys, I noticed something weird. In Settings -> About. The Kernel version is “root@andy-desktop #1”.

Is this normal?

Now I mentioned earlier this was a refurbished model, could the previous owner have rooted the box?
 
Also, I’ve been doing some research and some posts suggest clearing the data and cache in recovery mode. Is this something I should try?
 
Just a thought.
Could it be an issue of the format of the USB stick?
I just install it successfully by using the USB stick whose format is FAT32, while unable to install it when the format is NTFS.

I used an external HD, and I made sure to format it to FAT32 prior to attempting the flash.

Just to clarify does the Kernal version seem normal to you? Also the error messages, what do they indicate?
 
My Kernel version is "root@malei-desktop #1".
My Build number is "U1 FW013 20170629".
If you still cannot install the firmware using the USB stick, I would suggest installing the firmware with the flashing tool.
 
Thank you to all who helped! I managed to borrow a windows laptop and update via the USB burning tool.

One issue I am experiencing. When I open PlayStore, it immediately closes. Any idea why this is?
 
Hi ,has anyone experienced issues with trying to access settings on your minix neo u1 box? Everytime i try to go into it ,it just brings me back to the menu screen. Please help if anyone was able to resolve this. My current firmware version is : LMY47V.20170629 release key

Is it the settings from the home screen or the main settings through the clock in the top right of the home screen?
