NEO U22-XJ: 005FW (20200819) - Root Switch Version [this is not a bugtracker!]

Hello Marti. I don't know if it's the translator's fault, but you don't seem to understand that the real problem is that I can't manually flax with the U22 because currently the tool doesn't recognize the U22's usb-c. Since with the first manual flax I did for the V004 before the OTA late one night to achieve it, after using a minipc, a desktop computer and two laptops. I did it with an old Toshiba notebook, after that I could only do one more flax. And I assure you that I know how to do it because I have followed all the instructions to the letter and also this same manual flax in the U1 barely takes me 15 minutes. I did not say anything before because I naively thought that it would be fixed with an update but it is clear that it is a defect of the box.
As for what you call "hostility towards Minix" is not such I am simply conveying my discontent and frustration. And it is also justifiable because ignoring the U1 I had a Neo X8-H that stopped working, watching a YouTube video, with just one year of life. But despite that I have returned to buy Minix products that tend to be more expensive than the rest thinking about the quality of their components. And then you get a box that doesn't allow you to flax Rom, I think it's understandable that I'm upset. After what happened before and seeing that yesterday no one from Minix will show interest in my problem.
With this I think your questions are answered. As you can see if I have enough PCs.
Thank you very much.
I think @Marty's method means you do not need to use the burning tool, just an SD card and a little magic! :)

Ok, gracias
I can understand your frustration  I will send you a PM that will hopefully help for now but for the future maybe you should return the unit if you suspect it is faulty.
Thanks for your help and understanding. Of course sending it would be in the future because soon I will be very busy.

Finally, I think I know why the U22's usb-c fails to recognize the pc. When I installed TWRP for Backup when the TWRP boot screen appeared after a few seconds it disappeared and the screen was black. It took me half an hour to realize that if I kept pressing recovery and the ignition after putting the black screen and waiting for a second time without stopping pressing both and if the TWRP boot screen remained fixed. Now with the computer it is impossible to repeat that action and that is why it does not recognize it, I am almost sure.
Thanks again.

SD card method is another procedure you can do to flash the device.

Have you tried this on the U22? I haven't so can't confirm if it works.
Hi. I never tested in any device (at the moment i don´t have any SD Card available)
I know it works on U9-H and X8-H plus for example.

I think it must work on U22-XJ.

I have a way for you to install this root ROM and keep your data. You will need an SD Card that goes into the U22 and a PC to format it to FAT32, let me know if you have this and I will help. All I ask is a little less hostility towards Minix as they really are trying to please the masses. Even the most expensive comptition box does not offer what you are expecting, they offer the standard OTA and for root a seperate developer image that needs to be flashed.
Hi marty could I have it too? the procedure? thank you

Marty's card method is not a miracle, it is miraculous. Total success and without deleting a single piece of information. Of course Mnix is fortunate to have people like Marty.
Thank you all.
Enjoy ?

Hello Marti!

I am also interested in the Update-Method with SD-Card. Could you please tell me the whole Details how to do it?

Thanks
Nassin

Thank you all.

Here reporting another success with Marty's SD install trick. So far so good.
Good to know:
  • My U22 with the bootable SD was not showing any signal on my TV when going in recovery mode. So I had to use another display to do the trick.
  • The FW005 version provided comes with the root switch in the config.

Hello, I just did a test with the USB tool Burning_Tool_v2.0.6.2 with my old Neo X8-H in a last attempt to resuscitate it and seeing that I recognized it at the time I tried with the U22-XJ with the same strategy from the beginning from TWRP waiting a second time after USB-C is paired for the first time and then disappears. And bingo has worked. For whatever reason, the handicap of waiting a second time works with this tool and not with v2.2.0. But I have to hold it down until it binds a second time. I have tried it 2 times with success. If the recovery holds up, I think that with the old Burning_Tool_v2.0.6.2 tool I can manually install the updates. How curious?. If someone reads it, I hope it helps you in case you have a similar problem.
Regards

I had a reverse experience with my U1 where using an older version of USB burning tool just won't work, but the next version worked. It goes to show that ideally, if one doesn't work, your 1st port of call could be a different version of USB burning tool. I used v2.2.0 for the U22 because that was the one recommended by Minix.

Hi. Anyway my case seems to be an exception. Due to the strange behavior when starting TWRP and the usb recording tool itself, which, as I mentioned earlier, need to be linked twice to work in both cases. Something out of the ordinary that I know of.
Thanks for your interest.

I currently have FW005 running, however want to fix the generic.kl issue to use my external keyboard properly. However, I don't want to loose my data by flashing the rooted version of FW005. Can I boot the rooted version of FW005 from the SD card, edit/delete the generic.kl file, remove SD card and reboot to FW005 non-rooted WITHOUT loosing my data?? I have an SD card formatted for FAT32. If so, please let me know the steps. Thanks!!
