NEO-U9-H after firmware upgrade apps occasionally stop or crash...

I have noticed that occasionally, apps that work fine on my Neo x8-h plus, tend to crash occasionally on my U9-h, which is running the community firmware Android 7.1.2. A simple relaunch does help but, these apps will crash again eventually. (Memory management issues ? Screen resolution issues? 3rd party launcher issues?)
I know its not storage space as I have lots available.
I am pretty sure its not ram, since I clean it up regularly,
I am not sure if its permissions, which I have played with off and on, but maybe so.

I bring this thread up hoping to hear if this is a known community firmware upgrade issue that others have experienced and hopefully for the potential fix. So far, apart for some minor issues, the upgrade is working great so I hope I don't have to roll back if I really don't need to. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again for this great Minix community forum.

Cheers

Firstly, thanks for the reply...

mx player for one, when launched from any other app it causes that app to stop. The video plays through with no problems but the launching app stops. If I play through native android player the launching app is fine. Its more of a nuisance for now since the video will still work except for the "app close" message popping up.

The system UI stopped once today as well. I relaunched it and its fine for now.

I have upgraded the firmware only a few days ago for reference. I have been reading about android system webview causing apps to crash and so I might try to roll it back as a test to see if I can stop the crashes.
Any help is appreciated.

Mx player alternative:
-Try with kodi (one of the best media player you can have): (latest version here)
https://mirrors.kodi.tv/releases/android/arm/kodi-19.4-Matrix-armeabi-v7a.apk?https=1

If the problem remains :
Maybe the other apps you are using are causing the issue.
My advice:
use only the apps you need and uninstall those you don´t need.
Restart the device after the changes for now.

Were you having issues with previous firmware?
Actually, since I just acquired the u9-h I went straight to the community firmware upgrade. I thought that if it did not work, then I could roll back more easily to the manufactured firmware, because I haven't loaded much on the unit. Having said that, I will say that the same apps work fine on
my x8-h plus, which is running on lollipop.

oh great thanks, I will try the Kodi install next.

As an update, I reset all the app permissions and notifications so that the system is as close to the original install and that did seem to fix a few issues, like the start UI is not crashing anymore....(so far). As far as the other apps are concerned, I think I am able to manage them now too. I might have gone a little crazy with the permissions and notifications and that might have caused some android OS integrity problems. Chalk it up to user error, the Nougat OS seems quite solid and I am not complaining at all.
I will muddle through, but I really appreciate the Kodi link. Its my next go to.

Cheers,

I know that I am steering the thread in a different direction, and I apologize for that...

Now that I have discovered Kodi and have successfully added and used the opensubtiles addon, I was wondering if there are any other subtitle addons that I can add to my list. In my experience using opensubtitles, from time to time it's down for maintenance, and I would like to have a backup, if possible.
