Is sorcery gonna bring back all my settings and time spent getting this POS working again, back?
No and neither will your attitude. There are a small amount of units that receive the full image instead of just the upgrade, by providing your serial Minix can rectify this for you so future updates won't wipe your POS.

Edit: Oh and let me add, the affected units are pre-official release so please vent your frustration towards the reseller you bought it from and not Minix.

Then why does Minix send out pre release boxes to resellers? Yes, the reseller is to blame, but so is Minix. Don't bury your head in the sand.

Head in the sand, how ironic as you clearly have no idea how this all works. The pre-release units are for the likes of youtubers to review, tech sites to review so on and so on. The unit you received was given to whomever you bought it from, for free, the clown then sold it on to you without the release firmware on it.
Enough of this now, Minix have kindly offered to help so your problem does not arise in the future, a small display of appreciation is more in order one would assume.

@MINIX - John can you please confirm this serial number has been addressed.

I contacted John already. At least he apologized. More then I can say for you. I bought this at an official store, not somewhere on ebay or secondhand in a back alley like an illegal drug transaction. You should not be in customer support.

I hope John/Minix will contact the seller and give them a scolding as I gave him a copy of my invoice.

As a end-user I am not aware of pre release boxes, or at least them being sold to us. The box did not have any stickers on them stating is was pre-release.

I still think it's Minix's responsibility to address this (contact resellers) as I as a end-user end up with the headache of lossing all my setting each time an update is pushed.

We're not in "customer support" & neither are we MINIX officials!! (Nobody has claimed they are & that's your incorrect assumption, something you seem to be very adept at.) We're end users, & enthusiasts, just like you!

If every manufacturer waited until an official release date before actually shipping units out, the delays to consumers on the day of release would be anywhere between variable to ridiculous. (New products might not reach retailers (brick & mortar or online) for days or even weeks. Have you considered that aspect as well?)

The problem in your case is undoubtedly the reseller involved, (AliExpress?)

This is precisely why manufacturers ship out new products in advance under the agreement that resellers/retailers will wait until the OFFICIAL release date before selling them to the general public!!! Some, however, break that agreement for various reasons. (Some consumers also go ahead & purchase devices even when they know it hasn't been officially released too & will still find cause for complaint!)

Case in point.....

https://theminixforum.com/index.php...ed-at-ifa-berlin-2019.1781/page-14#post-12740

You specifically asked another forum member where they got their pre-release device from well before the official release date & I think we've established that you purchased your device pre-release by providing your serial number here. (It seems to me you were more than aware you were purchasing pre-release beforehand!!)

Now you're experiencing problems based on those actions & you're still receiving help, yet this is still somehow the manufacturer "burying their head in the sand" or the fault of other forum members, (anyone but your own)??? Of course, you're entitled to your opinion. (Personally, I'm of the opinion that somebody here has their head somewhere, but it certainly isn't the manufacturer, & it's undoubtedly a hell of a lot "tighter, darker & smellier" than sand as well ;)!!!!!)

Which way do you want it? There truly is NO pleasing some people is there!!??!!?

To clarify, this MINIX NEO T5 was not purchased from an official/authorized MINIX reseller.
