New U22-XJ user questions

It should be shown next to the resolution so I suspect HDR is not active when you are looking, could you check and let us know what your settings are under:
Settings/MINIX Settings/Display/Screen resolution
If you have "HDR policy" set to "Adaptive Hdr" then HDR will only kick in when a HDR video is played.

I checked and HDR Policy is set to always HDR.

The "Picture Mode " (or whatever its called on a TCL) of the TV should change to a HDR mode so you can look there.
I don't see HDR anywhere on my TCL TV. The firestick used to show a HDR box in the upper right of the TV when I turned everything on

Minix should switch to HDR as soon as you play a HDR video. Try one of those:

I didn't try it myself yet, but I'll check it out when I come back from work, to let you know if those clips trigger HDR on my tv. If they won't on yours, we'll troubleshoot further.

@tvr4 @ENDRJUPL

Those files from 4kmedia work fine for HDR on the U22 ( eg I have used the New York one )

Its just a case of setting the Minix display settings correct. @Marty has already posted them but here they are again from my U22

If his TV doesnt show HDR then its a question of sorting out his TV (or AVR if he has one ) settings . ie may need to check that the HDMI input is correct for HDR content.

And to confirm HDR should only kick in when HDR content is being played (y):)

I changed the policy to Adaptive HDR. But I could not download any of the videos from 4kmedia.
I found a 4k demo by searching google but am not sure if it worked or not. The video played and the picture looked good.
But I did not see any indicator or message to show that it is displaying in HDR

***Note: For the full experience you must first download and install SmartTubeNext on the U22: Click => Here***

The following video is one that blew my mind when first viewed on the U22, in SmartTubeNext Search type "UHD HDR" and look in "The HDR Channel" for the video "Real 4K HDR: LG 2020 OLED Black in HDR":
The HDR Channel.jpg

When you play the video bring up the UI and click on the "HQ" icon in the bottom left and select "Video formats":
Video formats.jpg

Then select "2160p, 60fps, 30.1Mbit, vp9, HDR":
Video Settings.jpg

Lastly, be prepared to be blown away!!

What is SmartTubeNext?
I downloaded it but noticed that it is a beta.

How do I open the UI after installing it?

I am ready to be blown away! Thanks

Nothing to worry about! It is updated fairly frequently.

It is a replacement for "Smart YouTube TV" by the same developer.

The app does have Auto-updates

I must have been lucky then...sometimes if running a VPN changing your connection allows you to d/l the file
