No Multichannel AAC / PCM with Kodi

A ghost of the past came back to with the NEO U22-XJ Max - there is no decoding multichannel AAC.

Whatever is set in Android or Kodi, it comes out as stereo PCM and that's it... I thought inabilities like this were gone since at least 2015 when the Nvidia Shield came out.

I do not know for sure what the root of this problem is. Is it Kodi detecting the channels from the OS as stereo. Is it a general problem with Android 9. Because it surely is not a hardware or software limit.

Any idea how to overcome this? Basically all my content is AAC multichannel, except what is only available with lossy tracks.

The player would be an instant return atm. ;(

Please read the bug threads where you will discover many groans about the u22 audio capabilities ( or rather lack of them ) :(
