'S5' option in BIOS.

MINIX - Martin

Previous MINIX Staff
Clarification:
This is an energy-saving option, and this option is disabled by default.

If S5 option is enabled, almost all the modules and ports will NOT consume any power when the device is shutdown or in OFF state.
While the cons are that features like 'AC Power Loss', 'LAN Wakeup' and 'RTC Wakeup' will NOT work.

If it's disabled, some modules and interfaces, such as USB ports, will still be working when the device is shutdown or in OFF state.
This means the device would still consume some power even it is powered off.
To make features such as 'AC Power Loss', 'LAN Wakeup' and 'RTC Wakeup' to work, this option must be disabled.

Where to enable/disable it?
Entering BIOS by continuously pressing the 'DEL' key when you attempt to power on the device.
Go to ‘Advanced’ > ‘Power Settings’ > ‘Deep S5 (Eup)’.

Hi! The 'RTC Wakeup' doesn't work on my new Z100-0dB. The 'Wake-on-LAN' works fine. The BIOS AD0J0191 update is installed and the Windows-11 Prof. 24H2 too. Have any an idea where the problem may be?

Hi, I tried to enable the Deep S5 (Eup) option, but the USB ports are still giving power. I have a fan connected to one of the back USB ports and the fan keeps moving after shutting down the mini PC. I am running the .201 BIOS, just installed.

I've just tried and all the USB ports are dead!

Check you have actually enabled Deep S5(Eup)

Hi, I had it enabled. However, it looks like the PC was getting power through one of the USB ports, that I had connected to a KVM switch. I noticed it because even after disconnecting the power plug from the mini PC, the fan was still running! After disconnecting the cable going to the KVM switch, then the fan stopped, and after reconnecting the power plug then the fan also stopped when I shut down the mini PC. So all seems good now. Well, except for this weird thing that a secondary source of power (incoming via an USB port) kind of overrides this deep S5 setting.
