[SOLVED] Sound not working

All sound has stopped working on my box. I don’t have it set to mute and I don’t know how to fix it.

Have you checked the actual Android "media" volume? (You wouldn't be the first to overlook it when experiencing no sound ;)!!)

Have you double checked all the MINIX device audio options themselves?

Just one app affected or all apps affected period? (If just one the same applies, double check a setting hasn't been inadvertently changed within said app.)

Try resetting the cache and/or data for an affected app but bear in mind resetting app data will also wipe all app settings or data saved to that app, such as Kodi, (unless you manually back them up first of course).

If all apps continue to be affected, none of the above apply, or you can't otherwise sort it out by the usual means, or tricks, you may need to just bite the bullet now & consider the more radical option of a full device reset vs spending hours of troubleshooting. (How patient are you are potentially work through various possibilities to locate the source of the problem which may be a quick fix or you may never resolve it? Or, you could reset & "possibly" clear it immediately. Obviously, that's entirely up to you ;).)

I did a factory reset and the sound worked after that but the next time I used the box it wasn’t working again. It is all apps affected. I checked the media volume and it is turned on to the max. Now I can’t get it to work at all even after a reset.

I know this sounds silly and I have no wish to insult your intelligence, but sometimes after a reset the volume is down to zero, although shown as high on your media volume in settings. Try and press the volume + on your minix remote and see if the OSD shows any volume levels. Try it on various apps.

How are you outputting audio? (HDMI to TV & TV speakers, HDMI to external audio hardware, optical or via the 3.5mm jack?)

Have you tried another proven cable respective to the output you're using?

I think it was a problem with my tv. I did a reset on that and it worked again after. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again

Let's hope not to save you these constant resets ;).

(Most decent TV's have their own sound/audio settings menus too, so it's often worth quickly checking through them as well in case something got inadvertently changed & you can see an obvious cause. (Perhaps the audio got changed from digital to analogue, for example. Even accidentally sitting on a remote can in the right or wrong circumstances (depending on how you want to look at it lol ;) ), input undesirable changes. That "might" have been the case for you & the factory reset has just returned all settings back to their defaults for everything to function normally again.)

Well done for working out the problem yourself & thanks for coming back to post up your solution too as it could be useful to others in the future as well :).
