I purchased a Yamaha RX-V685 a few months ago and it's worked perfectly up until recently. The sound has now started cutting out specifically when I'm using my Neo-u9 media player. When it does cut, the sound will stop for about half a second and all the speakers will disappear off the display of the receiver. The image is not impacted.
I've done some research and found that power could be an issue. Originally I had the receiver plugged into a surge protector power board when this issue began. As an attempt to remedy I plugged it into a standalone power board as I thought perhaps it was drawing too much power. Everything worked for fine for about 2-3 weeks and then it started doing it again. I then plugged it directly into the wall outlet and had the same 2-3 week period where it was fine and it started again. I switched the adapter, again it worked for a couple of weeks and has since started again.
It appears to be the media player, however I just cant wrap my head around why switching the adapter/outlet results in perfect playback for 2-3 weeks and then the issue returns. Any help will be appreciated
