Now I'm having a Torrent related problem...... :((n)(n)

With my 'old' U1 I could download any torrent on my HDD, and leave it there for anyone to download it again (it's called "seeding") (y)
With my 'new' U22 I can't because Android 9 (thx Google ) doesn't let me do it... :censored::censored::censored:

Thanks (again!) to anybody who will help on this :giggle:

You're kinda skirting down the edge of a razor blade here, (using your testicles as a braking system ;) ). I'm not saying there aren't legal torrent sources available, obviously there are. However, well, most already get the point there really lol ;).

(Anyone who knows what torrents are or how the system works with the level of knowledge to help with what your stuck with would generally know what seeding is by default too ;).)

It's not so much an issue that Google/Android actively block torrenting, it's more to do with what they've done to secure later Android versions when it comes to simple read/write access of external USB devices, or apparently in some cases the filesystem used too.....

Have you tried formatting your external HDD's in exFAT vs NTFS as discussed by @Villa & others in your other recent post regarding your HDD's, for example? (If already done did it make no difference?)

Have you tested if your torrents will specifically seed/leech from/to the internal storage directly? (Highly restrictive by itself obviously, but it'd be a start in troubleshooting the problem as to specifically what can/will or can't/won't actually work.)

Have you also tested the same from an SD card on the U22, (whether as adopted storage or removable, (or both))? If successful, you could source an SD card of the maximum size supported by the U22. (Again, it may also need to be formatted in exFAT & also be somewhat restrictive.) If this too does or doesn't work, it may also give you a better indication of your options from there on out.

(i.e. if the U22 won't seed/leech from the internal storage/SD card at all, then you may well be ******!!!)

Potential alternative options after that....

Keep running your U1 solely for the purpose & move the files you want to keep over to the U22 on an as required basis. (Still a pain in the backside.)

Run another separate device as a dedicated torrent client to leech/seed your legal files, and/or consider a decent NAS to go with it :). Then you or anyone on your network can access all of your data centrally regardless of the device you're using with minimal fuss. If you so desire, you or anyone you give access can also access certain data from your NAS WAN side too.

I realise the potential expense involved of a NAS & the hard drives isn't particularly cheap, but I can assure you they're an excellent investment & a great bit of kit to have available. Not just for the home theater or multimedia aspect either, but it makes life an awful lot easier in many other ways too :). Am just adding it as another choice to consider in case you've never really given it any serious thought. You may well find it solves a number of your problems in one shot ;). (Your current HDD's wouldn't necessarily be wasted or become completely surplus to requirements either. Important data on a NAS is still best backed up externally regardless of any internal data protection system(s). Additionally, depending on the NAS you purchase, you can also connect multiple external HDD's to them as well that can also still be accessed by any device that can access the NAS itself.)

See how you go with the above working your way down :).

Thank you for your suggestions ArcticWolf, I am going to check them out ?

Actually, I still feel some love for my testicles...? I'm not ready to let them go! ??
