NEO U22-XJ Max FW002 Beta is available to download from this link:

The compressed file includes
- USB Burning Tool;
- Firmware File;
- Installation Instructions;

Change-log:
Added support for Dolby Digital Plus (DD+) audio via passthrough.

this is a beta firmware, we have to collect feedback before this will become an official build.
Old MINIX fans should know the way that we are doing this.

This is the same firmware that we are going to send to Dolby Lab for testing Dolby Vision.

My observation is that the U22-XJ MAX already passes through Dolby Digital Plus on v001 firmware so I dont understand the changel-log

are you saying (hinting) that this firmware (002 Beta) has been updated to "fix" the Dolby Vision issues on v001 ??

and what about the Dolby Vision issues from the v001 firmware I queried ,has this also been attempted to fix in this 002 beta ?

Hi thanks for getting back to me.

Apps backups need root to fully backup and restore.

Furthermore please be aware that every reboot the whole box goes into Dolby Vision mode(rather than needed when Dolby Vision files is played) and we have to turn it off & on.

I did ask previously ( twice) about Dolby Vision with this firmware but recieved no response , however looking at your post it would seem it hasn't bben fixed ??
Maybe @MINIX - Ken can confirm one way or other :unsure:

If they fix that along with root, it'll be the best media box for Dolby Vision with the ugoos even better than oppo with dolby vision cmv4.0 in coreelec.

The U22-XJ ( not Max) with Slimbox firmware works great for Dolby Vision and HD audio, and has root if you wish

I cant vouch whether the max version with slimbox does though....

Unfortunately it doesn't, can't remember the amount of times I've installed every one of them incl new 9.13 in the last 3yrs- I've even put the xj firmware on the max- everything works but no sound.

And the funny thing is I have reported this to slimbox (on their telegram) for the last 3 years about it, and they have threatened me with a ban several times 😳.
 
Yes, thats my recollection as Im sure I have tried slimbox on the max in the past and it hasnt worked correctly

Sounds about right. When I reported about sleep issues with SlimboxTV on my U9-H they were also weirdly hostile and passive aggressive about it. Makes me kind of distrustful of the whole thing.

as said, this is the same build we send to dolby lab for vision certification.
the pre-tests were all passed.

Root firmware is not our thing to do.

Sorry, It wasnt clear to me earlier but based on that info I have now loaded the FW002 beta on to my u22 xj max.

and I confirm what @yalwaysme has reported.

Dolby Vision works fine ( for me with Kodi 21) once you have gone into the Minix display settings and turn Auto Switch to Dolby Vision on and off again as once you reboot the box it does indeed go straight into a DV mode ( incorrectly) .

If you can fix that, and as a bonus get HD audio to work correctly, you will make a lot of people a lot happier !!

OK, we are trying to backport the HD passthrough capability so maybe we can fix it together -> FW003 beta, maybe?
