Currently using 4 x 5TB seagate portable drives and 1 x 2TB seagate portable drive for my movies/tv series… im running out of space and im thinking of buying the 18TB Seagate Onetouch drive to increase my storage… anybody have any idea if the MINIC U9-H can read from those?

I was considering a NAS but i dont see the point since i dont plan on having backups of my collection anyway…

A Nas is clearly the solution!
It gives you a single storage space that can be placed anywhere in the house and accessed by all your peripherals (Minix, PC, TV, etc.).

A NAS system doesn't have to be a backup.
In RAID5 can ONE hard drive fail without you losing any data.
A modern NAS can also use each hard drive as "single", then you don't have a raid. If one hard drive fails, you only lose one hard drive and not the rest. (HDDs not merged into a large pool)
With RAID0 you could merge ALL storage from all hard drives, but if one hard drive crashes, you'll lose everything!
