Thanks!
Where in the store do I turn off the Chrome updates? The store doesn't even show me having Chrome?! Does disabling it work - happy to do that and use firefox as my browser. Device showing Chrome version as out of date, I don't want to update though. I think it is Google music that I was using, it just shows as 'music' on the menu. Have cleared cache and data on music app, but Chrome the worry atm.
UPDATE: Just done a global block on autoupdates in the store - is this what you were referring to? Have no idea how to revert Chrome to earlier versions.
UPDATE2: System is running 6.0.1, security patch level 1 August 2016! WTF, did this ship direct from the Ark?! Is this part of the problem?
You're welcome

RE:. Blocking updates for the Chrome app alone. Simply select Chrome from your "my apps & games" list in the Play Store, (then look under the "installed" tab). Once selected you'll see 3 small vertical dots (denotes options) at the top right corner of the display. Click on that & uncheck auto updates for Chrome.
Otherwise, it'd be a good idea to revert your "global block" to keep other apps updated as required after that.
The U9-H came preloaded with a very basic "music" app & I'm assuming that's what you're referring to without additional detail? (The icon for it simply looks like a grey/blue circular speaker/woofer.)
It does the job, but honestly you'd be better off picking up something better & more substantial from the Play Store. There are certainly some decent free music apps available but I purchased Poweramp via the Play Store years ago for a single payment & it's still one of the best music apps I've found myself. I've since had it installed on at least a dozen of my various Android devices & I've never experienced any issues with it across a range of brands or Android versions. It has some great advanced features if you like to make use of that sort of thing, if not you can keep it simple too if you prefer.
I tend to use Tidal's HD music plan more these days myself, for example, but I still continue to use Poweramp for local media too. (I've tried at least 25 alternative music apps over the past 7/8+ years too & still gone back to Poweramp every time not too long after lol. For playing music on a device itself it has some powerful features & it's certainly a vast improvement over the old & very basic preloaded music app. (Poweramp won't play networked/streamed music from a NAS etc., however, it will cast your music from any device it's installed on up to your AVR, Chromecasts, etc.,, etc.). It has a 14 day free trial if you want to give it a shot then you just purchase a full version unlocker. If not, still tons of other music app options available for you to choose from
.
I use a Sony AVR with a Panny TX50EX750B TV (with most of my locally stored music encoded in FLAC). Music from the U9-H/Poweramp app sounds awesome.
RE: U9-H shipped with Noah's Ark
!! Yes, the stock firmware on the U9-H is becoming dated but the device is a few years old now. (No, I'll think you'll find it's the music app itself that you're currently using that's the problem. It's essentially a system app & I don't think it's received an update since being preloaded. It's there purely to give users an idea of the concept for most to then download their preferred music apps.) By moderns standards the U9-H isn't the fastest machine around anymore either but it's an absolute workhorse that's incredibly stable indeed when well set up & it received 7 firmware updates during its accepted update lifetime. However, the majority still find it more than adequate. It'll handle 4K, HDR, & HDMI passthrough of all the popular audio codecs, (including HD audio & media encoded with Atmos or DTS:X metadata). It's still a tough device to beat despite it getting a bit long in the tooth
.
Depending what you're now going to do you could ignore blocking the Chrome updates & just let them go ahead as routine too!! If you still wish to revert it back to the factory install.... Open the U9-H settings, click on apps, click on Chrome & select uninstall updates. Alternatively, open U9-H settings, click on advanced settings, select apps, select Chrome, & from there click on disable, (it won't actually disable it but will ask if you wish to revert to the factory install of Chrome.). Job done either way.
Hope that's of continued use. Shout if you need anything else
