@jpl69 Excuse my ignorance, when you say on Minix do you mean on the U9 exclusively or on other Minix boxes as well?
That's actually great news! It means we can finally put this Netflix thing to bed at least on one device. It has been hampering the acceptance of the Minix Media Hubs. So many people tunnel visioning on this Netflix tempest in a teacup thing. Everyone is focused on the Emporer's clothes .... and he is naked! We are missing the big picture ... *pun intended
Personally I would prefer a colonoscopy to 1 hour of Netflix. I suffered through 2 months of it when I was visiting my son in Silicon Valley. I couldn't find half the shows or movies I wanted and when I did, they didn't have the right season grrrrr. You would have had to wait months until they bought the rights to that season. Meanwhile, you had to watch quickly a certain season before they deleted the whole thing Arghhhhhhh! He also had regular Big Cable. It was like Chinese water torture...... drip, drip, drip, 7 to 9 commercials every 15 minutes. We will now interrupt this program for a few minutes of the tv show! I wanted to smother The Fox News My Pillow Guy with one of his own pillows I wanted to scream, but I sat there politely and suffered in silence. When I got home, I binge-watched and got caught up on all my shows and movies. Ahhhhhhh! Relief!!!
Of course, I understand that change is sometimes difficult and there is an element of uncertainty. Better the devil we know, than the one we don't.
Just remember that with Netflix you are seeing only a small part of what's really available out there. The Netflix quasi-monopoly controls a portion, but not all, of the world's distribution rights, so it's harder, but far from impossible, to find anything but the endless superhero blockbusters or remakes that they churn out, day in day out.
There is fantastic content that is out there just waiting to be seen. Take examples like Schitt's Creek, or Anne With an E, we were watching it long before Hollywood discovered it. You can choose what they want you to watch or enjoy what you want to from a true World Media Market.
