What happens after factory reset on a ROM?

My Minix u9-H has android 7.1.2 on it when i bought it. If i factory reset it, does it go back to android version 6.0.1 or doesit just reset to 7.1.2?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Factory reset just removes all user installed apps and data. The firmware is not affected.

Do you know how to downgrade the firmware back to 6.0.1?

With that USB stick method that is true.

You need to do a full image reflash.
