I'm having trouble with watching my NAS content on my U22-XJ using Kodi 18.6

sorry I mised that, yes so looks like probably a network related issue , i would try with rebooting all network related devices in the chain , and powering off/on any switchs/hubs etc.

I would also set the U22 to DHCP and assign its IP with dhcp reservation on the router.
Also in Kodi add the source (NAS) via its IP address ( Add netwok location ) rather than through workgroup. ( Windows network (SMB))
The second paragraph I will need help with also I'm not using SMB but NFS and it detects the IP address.

I have powered all network item off and rebooted them but it did not make any difference.
What puzzles me is the U1 works without any issues.

I am using NFS and i notice that is a little faster than SMB (I tested also with SMB).

I advice you to stay with NFS protocol

a) you will need to look at your router manual
b) see here >>
try the SMB option instead of NFS

also suggest that in Kodi Settings > Services >>SMB client

to set minimum to SMBv1
and max to SMBv3

Well it failed on WIFI crashed back to kodi library screen.
maybe your media libary is somehow corrupted ??

Do a fresh Kodi install
Dont add your media library but just add the source to your NAS in Kodi File Manager > Add source
then just use the File manager to navigate to any media file you wish to play and see if that works OK. Again as you are having issues using NFS add the source via SMB. SMB works just fine and plenty fast enough

Uninstalled Kodi reinstalled from play store.
Tried SMB no joy crashed out to Kodi library screen.
Tried not adding files to the library crashed back to Kodi library screen.
It never plays past 35 mins and often a let less.
I'm trying an earlier build of Kodi and VLC & going to reset my router back to factory setting.

Was this with
1) reserving your U22 IP address (DHCP) using your router (DHCP reservation)
2) reserving your NAS IP address (DHCP) using your router (DHCP reservation)
3) setting NAS source as an IP address as advised ( add network location) ,
4) without adding any files to your media library
5) accessing your media file directly from Kodi file manager?

crashed out to Kodi library screen.
plus can you please post a screenshot of what you mean by "Library screen"

Is it possible to have a static ip address for the U22?
Yes. it is possible to set a static ip adress, best choice is on your router.

With static ip adress your problem will not go away, setup a static ip adress will not fix that issue.

What you can do is test the same files and the same setup with one more device (a windows device for example, if you can).

Rui,
To be clear a router does not set up a "Static IP address" in the U22
What it does is reserve an IP address (using DHCP reservation) for a specific MAC address ( ie in this case the U22) so the U22 always gets this address when using DHCP

@ICF9

as you have said that the media files play fine from a USB stick connected directly using different players is unlikely to be of any use benefit

Your issues point either to a "faulty" network device in the U22 itself, or in the network configuration of your LAN

Do as i suggested in post #33 with your U22 connected via ethernet direct to your router
