I having trouble with watching my NAS content on my U22-XJ using Kodi 18.6 via Ethernet connection.
Any files I stream from the NAS work first off but then drop out randomly back to the Kodi Library screen sometimes its 8 mins sometimes 30 mins but very rarely past 40 mins. When files are played from a USB stick they work no problem.

I have tried loads of trouble shooting not necessarily in this order.
Different HDMI cable
Loaded new firmware V003A_20200503
Cleared cache
Reset back to Factory
Different homeplugs
Different network switch.
uninstalled kodi then reinstalled kodi with new firmware update.

When I replace the U22-XJ with my old U1 all works fine.

Hi .
You have some network issue (begin with your router, switches you may have)

Try this first:
-Restart router/switches

Please give us more details:
-What NAS do you have ?
-You have only one router?
If you have more routers are they connected via ethernet ?
-You have switches ?

Your U22-XJ should work fine with ethernet (you have done some things such as factory reset).
You should be able to stream from your NAS large files without any problem (4k included)

You said you reloaded kodi (i assume you have done a clean install).

Yes.
It is strange.

Both devices should work well with the network configuration.

You should review your network setup.
Something is wrong,

If you can try this:
-factory reset router.

Sometimes after many changes (router, minix , etc) the best thing we can do is factory reset.

Synology 110j NAS
I have only one Sky router SR102.
One network switch.
All connected via cable WiFi Turned Off on U22

Do you think the U22 Ethernet is faulty?

This my seem like a daft question my network for the PC's and U22 are connected via homeplugs so does this traffic go through my router?

Connect U22-XJ directly to router (without switches , etc) and test again

Check later:
Rj45 cables and homeplugs

Right connected to router directly with Ethernet cable .Got it on test going for my daily lock down walk with everything crossed ?

Ok.

Put again U22-XJ to factory (reset).

After factory reset test only with kodi 18.6 and don´t install more apps.

Check your NAS firmware.

PS:
Check your apps installed on U22-XJ (maybe you installed before one app that created that isse)

I know this is a little different situation but I"m seeing a similar issue with my U1 ( I now this is about the U22) but, I was watching several .mkv videos on Plex trough my Nas the other day.. It kept acting up , jumping forward, sync was out and driving me crazy... .so, I shut down everything, rebooted everything and came back up all was fine. So, my U-1 is using MX Player... I found out there is a big update that I performed and it helped.... but still an issue on those files... So back to the NAS... watched the same videos on VLC player on my Notebook... .No Problem... and deiced to go to Roku with the Plex interface... On exactly the same network with GB connections. All the files play smooth and just like they should... So, now I am thinking should I change my player? No doubt some of this stuff is a real head scratchier

-factory reset router.
Put again U22-XJ to factory (reset).
Rui,
Please stop telling everyone to factory reset.
This should only be needed as a last resort when all else fails. A simple reboot solves many issues. If you are going to tell users to factory reset then please add the warning that all existing set up and data will be lost and they will need to reconfigure from scratch.

Well if you read all you can see that i suggested other things and not only factory reset, reboot included (and the user already have done a factory reset before)

Did the factory reset retested and still the same crashed back to kodi library screen after 9 mins.
Nobody else seems to have this problem so I'm thinking the U22-XJ is faulty.

Can you test with another media player ?
Mx player, VLC player for android for example

Can you test the same setup but with WIFI (instead of RJ45) ?

suggest you simply try to have fresh kodi install , pop a video file on the u22 internal memory or usb stick and play from there to eliminate any network related issues

From post1:
"When files are played from a USB stick they work no problem"

It is another idea : use U22-XJ internal memory and test

@ICF9 i think the problem you have is still some network configuration.

sorry I mised that, yes so looks like probably a network related issue , i would try with rebooting all network related devices in the chain , and powering off/on any switchs/hubs etc.

I would also set the U22 to DHCP and assign its IP with dhcp reservation on the router.
Also in Kodi add the source (NAS) via its IP address ( Add netwok location ) rather than through workgroup. ( Windows network (SMB))

Yes.
In post 7 i said "Connect U22-XJ directly to router (without switches , etc) and test again " but did not work
