I'm having trouble with watching my NAS content on my U22-XJ using Kodi 18.6

Rui,
To be clear a router does not set up a "Static IP address" in the U22
What it does is reserve an IP address (using DHCP reservation) for a specific MAC address ( ie in this case the U22) so the U22 always gets this address when using DHCP

@ICF9

as you have said that the media files play fine from a USB stick connected directly using different players is unlikely to be of any use benefit

Your issues point either to a "faulty" network device in the U22 itself, or in the network configuration of your LAN

Do as i suggested in post #33 with your U22 connected via ethernet direct to your router
I have already tried connecting directly to the router see post #7 ,# 8.

Can anyone answer the fact that my U1 plays all files on the identical network set up.
Unplug all cables from U22-XJ then plug in the very same cables into the U1 and all is fine.
It seems to me the unit is faulty as nobody else is have these problems and my old U1 works flawlessly on the same network

I don't know if this has been asked yet?

Does your U22-XJ Kodi install include a restored backup from your U1 Kodi install?

well hes advised previous;y he has done a clean set up of Kodi

not withstanding that i can use the same kodi backup across mutiple devices without any issues

No I have tried with the preinstalled Kodi after a factory reset then setting up from scratch.
Downloaded Kodi from playstore then set up from scratch.
Downloaded from Kodi site then set up from scratch.

NO..that what we are tying to figure it out !!

thats definetly a possibility !

but another clue maybe can you stream a long video from Youtube or similar and see if the network conncetion holds up

If his U1 works fine then surely he needs to try the exact same Kodi setup.

@ICF9
Did you try benchmark antutu, 3dmark for android to see your U22-XJ behaviour?

It is just Kodi that have that issue or you have other app that is causing problems?

Did you try for example smartyoutube TV ?

I playing a 45min youtube video now.
The only app loaded above the standard firmware set up I have is VLC.
I have not bench marked or tried smartyyoutube TV

Was this with
1) reserving your U22 IP address (DHCP) using your router (DHCP reservation)
2) reserving your NAS IP address (DHCP) using your router (DHCP reservation)
3) setting NAS source as an IP address as advised ( add network location) ,
4) without adding any files to your media library
5) accessing your media file directly from Kodi file manager?

plus can you please post a screenshot of what you mean by "Library screen"
I have manage to reserve the NAS ip address on the router.
I will reserve the U22 ip address on the router after the Youtube video test that's now ongoing

a few screen shots to help > this is with an Asus router for dhcp reservation, your router will most likely have a similar functionality
It is always best to use reserved address to avoid network conflicts

minix dhcp reserv.JPGkodi sys info.pngkodi source to NAS.png

good, probably a good idea to reboot all devices as well so it filters through

I tested With and without DHCP reservation.

I have now U22-XJ and other android devices without DHCP reservation (i have only DHCP reservation for windows devices) and i can say to you:
It is only needed if you use ftp client or other similar apps and will not fix your issue.

I strongly disagree , It is always best to use reserved address to avoid network conflicts ...let your router govern your LAN, not attached devices

Yes let your router govern your LAN.
I have three routers connected to my LAN: (all three connected via ethernet and two switches)
-First router - DHCP server enable
-Second router - DD-WRT DHCP server enable
-Third router - factory firmware , working as Acess point

It works very well and i need DHCP reservation (it is easier) for remote desktop, copy files, wake on lan, PXE, etc..
I Have also DHCP reservation for two routers, Two NAS and one printer.

I had before android devices with DHCP reservation but i don´t need and they are working well.
One day if i need again i will add to my network.

I never need to acess my android devices, if i need of course it is better adding DHCP reservation.
My android devices are just clients.

Right I have reserved the ip addresses for my NAS & U22 on my sky router rebooted everything and it's still doing the same thing .
I also ran the 3d mark benchmark and it completed but it said the U22 was not compatible with Vulkan
Sling shot extreme score - Open GL ES 3.1 score 1156
Sling shot overall score 1560

Do more tests with the device, let the device play some videos (with more time) with kodi and other apps.

You have done many tests.
If you can try with another Android PC (i know you have U1) or windows PC.

There is a possibility that the device is faulty, but you have to do extensive tests and with other device(s).

Another test: (reflash firmware, manual installation but be aware you will lose all data and setting) Instructions and firmware here:

I have tested Kodi on my U1 plays videos no problems.
The W10 PC , U1 & U22 use all the same network infrastructure but the U22 just doesn't want to work via my network only from USB port.

I flashed firmware 003 FW [20200430] manually.
I flashed firmware 003A FW [20200503] OTA.

you havent said whether the youtube video worked for a long period.....if it does it kinda suggest that at least some of your network is OK ??

as you have firmware 003A would you be willing to try coreelec just to see if that works on your minix >> https://theminixforum.com/index.php?threads/how-to-install-coreelec-on-the-u22-xj.2771/

it does work very well and very easy to get up and running if you just follow the instructions

Im not saying this is a permanent solution but would it would be interesting to see if that works OK.

I have it on my U22 and it actually works better than Android + Kodi (as it passes through HD audio) and if it doesnt suffer from the SDR/HDR/DV shananigans

Other than that I have no more ideas at present other than

Im guessing you dont have a VPN installed as that can block LAN traffic ?
you could also wipe the cache from the recovery menu
