Latest windows 10 version is 20H2.Minix NEO 4 Home Windows 10. I am trying to update my current windows 10 to version 1909. My bios has been upgraded to version 1.08 windows version. I tried the regular windows installer media creator. I'm running into the typical, for this mini pc, the storage problem (8 gig more needed to do the install). I'm thinking maybe the simplest approach would be a clean install. This pc is not of primary use. No email, word processing, heavy gaming, etc.. Just occasional use, browsing, light game use, with a den large screen tv. Another thing I considered, if possible, was using the USB 3.0 port with a usb SSD drive or even the usb thumb drive you mentioned. I tried a search for these issues in the forum. I'm not "super" technical. Any thoughts much appreciated.
I advice you using External hard drive to install OS (faster). Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking a clean install to a usb thumb drive or usb hard drive. What's the experience with using a thumb drive? I would use usb 3.0 blue port. If the usb thumb performance versus external hard drive is pronounced then I would use an external hard drive. I have my product key. If I wipe the current windows installation (not sure of this process) will my system retain via bios capabilities networking (I'm cat 5 cabling to my devices), mouse/keyboard function and etc... I only use browser or light game play on this pc. No email, banking, or security risk type stuff.
Thanks for helping.
You might like to read through this thread...Wow. Great help/forum here..... I will use external usb 3.0 hard drive.
More novice/dumb questions to follow.. ???
Thanks all.
Latest windows 10 version is 20H2.
You can use windows media creation tool.
It includes the correct drivers for the device. Is the reason for minix windows related to storage limitations or specific feature matches? Or does it matter if I am going to run windows from a usb 3.0 SSD?
If you're happy to reset/reinstall Windows then I suggest to do that, update to 2004 build then clone to USB HDD using WinToUSB.I have the Minix windows zip file. I ordered a usb SSD. In setting up everything to run windows from the SSD, whats the process for using the zip file to create the windows SSD drive? ***caution dummie at work here**
No, not that I am aware of!Will the minix windows 1903 zip file unzip to bootable windows install or ?
Just do as I suggested and clone the Windows install from the eMMC to the USB SSD.I have another pc to which I downloaded the zip file . I would like to set up from this other pb (Dell) a windows bootable 3.0 usb ssd. Then use this bootable ssd to run on my NEO 4. Sounds like certain needed device drivers are on this Minix windows as opposed to regular windows version.
I've no idea what this means?! EDIT: See next post #18I am then getting an error messsage stating the trial version does not do 4 k discs.
Firstly you will most likely have Windows update issues, ie: not enough storage on C drive.I would just run windows from the NEO box and use my SD card for storage.
What is the 120GB SSD you have?I received 120 Gb SSD.
