CoreELEC - MINIX U9-H

I've tried CoreElec with the instruktions here. Works fine to get it on a USB.

I tested it and Core Elec started fine. But then the screen size was not right. Kodi was too big so the edges were not visible. I restarted CE and then it was allright. After configuring Kodi I restarted and it was bad again, to big to fit on screen. After restart still to big.

Other issue, when stopping Kodi and rastrating agian CE has to boot up all the way. It does not seems to go to sleep like the U9 on android is.

I will test again sometime but for now i went back to Minix on android

running CE on my U9 - having some problems but cannot join the CE forum to post over there (confirmation email never arrives) Anybody know whats going on there??

BTW - their latest release runs nicely - other than the PVR plugins not working. Tried the latest nightly and that one half fixed the PVR plugin but breaks the IR remote settings...

The ce forum puts a dot (.) After the mail adres.
So that's why you don't receive the mail.
I have send a email to them to report this

To bad that android from minix don't use the Audio drivers of Coreelec.
I don't understand how it is possible that the official rom of minix have a lot of troubles with pass-through the audio

I don't have problems with audio passthrough, but I do have a lot of issues with video stuttering. CoreElec has zero stuttering issues (so far). I too have wondered why the "official" Minix firmware has so many playback issues.

it doesnt
if you have problems with video stuttering what have you tried to determine the problem and seek resolution

I have literally tried everything I can think of. But here's the thing. All the movies that the official android (FW008) firmware has issues with, including movies it mangles to the point of being unwatchable, play just fine on CoreElec and LibreElec ROMs. So the issue really IS the Minix firmware, and yes I am completely aware that both those ROMs are Linux based and not android.

My personal feeling is that Minix needs to strip their version of android more to the bare bones and optimize the firmware AND Kodi for the chips in the box, Amlogic in the case of the U9-H.

Not practical, as most of my 1080P videos are 10+GB in size, and my 4K videos often exceed 50GB.

However, one thing I have noticed is that anything that uses the VC1 codec is most likely to be problematic, especially for stuttering and losing audio sync.

Cut some small samples with a video editor.

You need to set tv resolution on just fit or screen fit or whatewer you have on your tv
That solved my problem and also i changed gui resolution to 4k

I'll see what I can do. One problem is that sometimes the issues under FW008 do not manifest themselves immediately. It sometimes takes a while before everything starts to go south, so a short clip may not show any issues.

Recent example is a movie I got, VC1 encoded with DTS-HD MA audio. On Android FW008, issues showed up slowly, but then got progressively worse (stuttering - no audio issues up to that point). Same movie on LibreElec would show slight stuttering, but a few minutes in I had a total loss of audio. On CoreElec, the movie played without any issues at all.

I wouldn't hesitate to go with CoreElec, but they are using a Kodi 18 beta, which I don't like, because I cannot change the skin. Almost all the skins give a dependency error, and those that don't are god awful. Can't stand the default estuary skin either.

You can try a Corelec older version with V17.6 Kodi version.

I experience the opposite. Smoother interface of kodi better playback and better functionality of screen settings and auto display switching.
With a stream add on movies playing smooth. All movies play smooth that are on my NAS.

What is your setup? with or without a NAS. How is your NAS configured.

Second is that the CE still a beta version of Kodi leia
You can try stable version of Kodi 17.6
There are also streaming plugins that can make things smoother I read someday.
Or try LibreELEC if you experience the same.

Try settings on display, on network samba, or nfs

3th this is still custom rom on your minix but it should work.
