Help! Step by step instructions on upgrading the storage

First off, greetings. This is my first post. I imagine many of you have run into storage limits and have upgraded the SSD. I have the native 32GB Minix N42 that I thought would be fine with "all that storage". Ha! Turns out, about the fifth update in, I was prompted about the shortage. I purchased a Kingston M.2 (2880) 240GB SSD to throw in there but I have no idea about how to copy the OS (Windows 10) onto a thumb drive to allow me to insert the new SSD into the Minix and create the new bootable drive. Are there any articles on the Forum or elsewhere that could walk me through this? Is there free software out there to work with on this project or would I need to purchase something like Paragon's Hard Disk Manager?

Thank you for your help.
Dale

I downloaded the Product Key programs from Nirsoft.net and NeoSmart.net and ran them. they both came back with; "Unable to open MSDM Table.", or similar and it says to contact the manufacturer or look for a sticker. Ideas? Been here before?

Thank you,
Dale

Hi Dale,

Did you read the article in the link I provided when you PM'd me the other day with regards to transferring your OS? ( https://www.easeus.com/partition-master/free-transfer-windows-10-to-new-hdd-ssd.html . They do a free trial, have you given it a look?)

The Windows product key is stored in the BIOS of your N42C-4. Otherwise, you can access your key from Win 10 Pro! Read here... https://www.groovypost.com/howto/find-your-windows-10-product-key/ . Scroll right down to "Find Windows 10 Product Key on a New Computer" for the details :).

I dont recommend that.
It is better to make a backup of what he needs and do a fresh install on the ssd leaving the original emmc disable (as backup also) ☺, it is like this i have mine.

Completely agree!! I also use an SSD in my N42C but I never ran it with the onboard eMMC Win 10.

I already advised a fresh start by PM but I think Dale has a lot of programs & personal data that he doesn't want to start over with.

An OS transfer should be fine if it's done with decent software :). I'd still backup anything important beforehand, however ;).

Thank you, gentlemen! I decided to purchase a different unit with 64GB SSD and avoid the whole mess. I'm not a developer, just an amateur astronomer using this device to remotely capture images. The Z83-F I purchased has plenty of room for updates (64GB) from Microsoft. I typically use a thumb drive to collect images on and then put them on my laptop for Post-processing. But the unit only has 4GB RAM and that seems a little low for the needs I have. Can you or anyone recommend a specific type of RAM card of say, 8GB or 16GB that would simply slip into the RAM slot? Does this unit have 2 slots or just 1? I haven't gotten to the point of taking the cover off yet. Thank you so much for your thoughtful help!

The Z83-F is not a MINIX device!
