Normaly since Android 5.0 lollipop you can transfer apps on sd card for expand internal storage ...Does anyone here know if it is possible to expand storage with a MicroSD card on the Minix Neo U1, and if so, HOW??
I would think that it would be possible, otherwise why have a MicroSD slot on the U1?
Thanks.
How do you format the MicroSD to expand the internal storage? I see no option on the U1 in settings/storage.Normaly since Android 5.0 lollipop you can transfer apps on sd card for expand internal storage ...
A microsd slot can also be used as "second" storrage for ,pictures ,music,vidéo... ,record storage options in different apps ...
Put sd card in slot and the box gives you the different storage options directly normaly ...
Power on the box ,put sd inside ,open the bar from the top on home screen with mouse ,normaly you see "sd card " you have to clic on it for formate it and chose storage option ,use ass internal or external ....then the card formate ,and After this you see it in storage settingsHow do you expand the internal storage with the MicroSD? PS ; not all apps can bé transfer to sd
Transfert apps work only in storage mode "internal"
Yes ,mount the sd...Thanks AboxF.
It only gives me the option to unmount, mount or erase storage. No format.
I can mount it, but that doesn't make it internal storage. That only makes it secondary storage in which I have to move items over to.Yes ,mount the sd...
Unfortunately your only options are to flash the unofficial Marshmallow ROM:Does anyone here know if it is possible to expand storage with a MicroSD card on the Minix Neo U1, and if so, HOW??
Thank you Marty.Unfortunately your only options are to flash the unofficial Marshmallow ROM:

or
Rooting the U1:

And then searching for a way to swap the internal storage to external SD like so:

Goes without saying, everything done at your own risk, flashing deletes all data so make backups!!

You are booting into normal recovery, you need to remove the power, plug it back in, insert the SD Card formatted to FAT32 with TWRP on it and then hold the power button until you see the TWRP splash screen, you cannot mistake it. If you still get the stock recovery then format the card again or try another card etc...I am trying this, but when I boot into recovery, I only get
This method of rooting will keep your data but like I said do at your own risk, anything unforeseen could happen. My system will still stay intact as far as my apps, pictures, settings, etc, after rooting this way, correct?
After I replied last night, I realized that my problem was that I needed to format the MicroSD to FAT32, as exFAT wasn't working. I was able to root. Now I just need to find a proper way to swap internal storage, or at least use MicroSD as internal/adoptable storage. You are booting into normal recovery, you need to remove the power, plug it back in, insert the SD Card formatted to FAT32 with TWRP on it and then hold the power button until you see the TWRP splash screen, you cannot mistake it. SuperSU has the option to unroot in the settingsIf I wanted to ever unroot the Minix
Yeah sorry I meant that link just as an example and should have made it more clear. I have never tried this myself so if you pull it off please let us know in case other members might benefitI stopped there and am looking around for a way. Nothing can be simple.
One question for you Marty...
There is a recovery.img that is included in your root, along with the SuperSU.zip. If I wanted to ever unroot the Minix, would I recover with that image...ie. is that the stock FW013 recovery image to unroot?
Thanks.
This is how I was able to expand my internal storage using a MicroSD card. It's not perfect, but it gives me a LOT more space to use on the Minix Neo U1...SuperSU has the option to unroot in the settings

For info, SuperSU apk is in the the zip file and should install automatically when you root the U1:
- Install the SuperSU application. (To install, just do a simple search on your browser and download it from a trusted site. I downloaded the same version SuperSU 2.82 that I rooted my Minix U1 with, as to not get any conflicts between versions, just in case).
Yes Marty, you would think. For info, SuperSU apk is in the the zip file and should install automatically when you root the U1:
