WARNING!

These modifications are not officially supported by Minix. If something bad happens to your box while installing this ROM, you are the sole person responsible.

With that being said, I have tested this ROM for a couple of months without any issue. It's also very easy to revert back to a stock Minix firmware with the USB Burning Tool.

* Otherwise, the ROM is stable *

----

TIPS:
Root:
Navigate to Settings/Minix Settings and select root. Follow the prompts. Once done, reboot the U1 and let SuperSU update via the Play Store.

Unroot:
Navigate to Settings/Minix settings and select unroot. Follow the prompts. Once done, reboot the U1.

----

WARNING:
If rooted, please unroot before doing a factory reset or you will run the risk of encountering a bootloop. In the case of a bootloop, simply reflash my ROM with the burning tool.

@funkyirishman - I think the issue is related to the Android System Web view, but I have to look into it a little further.

My to-do list:
Compile twrp for U9 on Nougat
Root guide for U9 on Nougat
Android TV ROM for U9 on Nougat
Fix bugs with U1 Marshmallow ROM
Android TV ROM for U1 on Marshmallow
Perfect

Would the U1 be able to handle a Nougat ROM ? No developer myself just wondering as thinking of upgrading my Minix

Sorry, but it's not possible. AMLogic did not release a Nougat SDK for the S905. To be fair, AMLogic did not release a Marshmallow SDK for the S905 either, but I was able to port over a ROM from another box where they did the work in-house, without official support. I just got lucky in that the box I ported the ROM from had similar hardware to our box.

Would this Fw work on other s905? I have a spare s905 box hanging around

Hi,
can I install the official version of the software again? I wanted to install this CFW because I thought that there would be possibility to install new versions of Netflix (> 6) but this is not true, your Netflix version is 4.8 unfortunetly. I prefer the official version because it seems to me more stable. Your version of the first day automatically restarted five times :(

Thanks for your work.

I couldn't find an article showing the installation steps here. twrp - root ?

If you make a video narration no one will make your device brick :(

Every question you asked is in the opening post of this thread.

Install instructions - at the bottom of the first post of this thread. It's a pdf that's attached to the post.

TWRP - It's in the thread. It's not needed for root though.

Root - again, first post of this thread, under the, "Tips", section.

No, sorry. Too busy to make a video, especially when youtube has tons of them already. Just follow the instructions in the pdf. You'll be fine.

Thanks for quick response. Does Netflix work? I could not find compatible netfix in version 5.1.1

Now I'm starting to install 6.0 rom.
Last I checked, the patched Netflix I posted in the opening post worked. I haven't checked in a while though, and no longer have a Netflix account.
