just got the u22-xj and its updating to version 20200503-v003a-20200503-1619.......is this the latest version or will i have to do more updates?

Rooting the device isn't a bad thing but some TV / Stream apps won't work with rooted version.
 
ok when using the launcher that u can add a background to...is there a reason why the pic enlarges so much that it almost distorts it. also why is there one app icon with a white border around it. cant get rid of it no matter what i do

This is Android, don't forget it is intended for phones so the image is basically being set across 2 screens for scrolling. I think Launcher Pro has the option in settings to "disable wallpaper scrolling" but there is nothing we can do with the stock launcher as far as I am aware.
 
Click on the white image. It will open and then click anywhere on the screen and the white pale outline will vanish.
 
Which launcher are you using. Because I am using Nova and that method works for me.

When you clicked on the white image, did you then press the back button or right click on your mouse?
That should have closed down the app and returned you to a home screen with the app no longer highlighted in a white outline.

its on launcher 3 i think thats the one it came with
 
Not a very flexible launcher. But that method I suggested should also work on your launcher.

Perhaps you may wish to try Nova. It still is not fully functional on the U22....but there are workarounds. There are numerous threads on here regarding it. But if you try it and get stuck, there are a lot of good people on the forum, who will, I am sure help out.

thanks. for the moment i am getting use to the metro launcher (ugly) lol. i liked the setup on the launcher and avail backgrounds on the u9 i guess. do notice a cpl other glitches with this system i am trying to sort out to though
