One of the best features of Kodi is that you can essentially organise your collection locally, but then scrape information or images etc. from established online databases. (IMDB, TVDB, MusicBrainz, etc.)

Ultimately, just web search "Kodi blah" & invariably you'll get a direct wiki, online written guides, Youtube tutorials or a user forum discussion that will answer most questions.

Kodi is a feature rich all in one solution & it can seem a little daunting at first, but there's not actually that much to learn with regards to its basic functions & multimedia playback.

Additionally, if you use a NAS or a system as a centralised storage device at home, you can also configure Kodi across multiple different devices in different rooms to utilise a single central database via MySQL. It saves a lot of time managing a separate library on each individual device & it also includes features such as the ability to stop a song/movie in one room & immediately pick up watching it in another room on another device. (Again, sounds complicated but once oast the initial setup, management is actually quite simple.). Alternatively, many users use the Trakt service which essentially does the same thing, albeit all your personal info, file info, & viewing/listening habits are all online to some degree regardless of privacy levels used. Obviously that's a personal choice that's down to each individual :).

Thank you very much. Unfortunately the U1 is no longer listed on their download page, so the above link you kindly put for me doesn't help. I tried the U22 but it didn't load on my U1, any idea what file to download for the U1?

You need the legacy version for the U1
https://coreelec.org/legacy/#download

Sorry to say that it didn't work. I flashed it to my USB drive with Rufus and when I put it in a USB slot and held the button, whilst connecting the power, it just hangs on the Minix logo with the green android. The light on the USB flashes for a while then stays on.

Any other suggestions on anything else I could try would be more than welcome.

Thank you for trying to help.

I would highly recommend using an SD Card, using USB can be unreliable and cause boot errors, we learnt the hard way:

Try a Micro SD card!! Some USB flash drives just won't work with CoreELEC.

Very sorry. As I have both a U1 and a U22 I thought it best to post in the section appertaining the the particular device. Thanks for your help.

I've tried it with a SD Card and get the same result, screen just hangs on the Minix logo with the android green Man.

I would really appreciate it if anyone has any further suggestions.

Thanks to everyone who has tried to help so far.

Stupid question here but I have to ask, you have followed the instructions to the T specifically step 12 where you hold the power button until you are presented with the CoreElec boot screen?

Which SD card exactly did you use? And did you follow the exact instructions for u22? It requires copying the correct boot Rom to the root directory of the SD card and changing it's name

No questions are stupid, and always worth asking incase something is missed. I am as sure as I can be that I've done everything correctly and have checked several times that I have followed the instructions to the letter. I get the same result with the USB and a SD Card, it just hangs on the Minix logo with the green android. Without a USB or SD Card it loads to the launcher screen and then reboots, over and over. I can get into the download/recovery mode. Therefore I have three choices, recovery, constantly rebooting or with a SD Card or USB in, it just hangs.

I have had a quick play with ADB and Fastboot which connects and have got it to reboot, but must admit that I'm a bit out of my depth, so haven't managed to do anything else with them.

I'm fast running out of ideas, but don't want to give up on it, especially after last night when I was ready to throw the U22 in the bin after I couldn't play a simple audio file with VLC. After uninstalling Nova, Fluid and a few other apps, several reboots, the mouse wouldn't move around the screen properly and VLC kept stopping and starting the audio. As a last resort I went to the BBC Sounds app, which luckily worked perfectly. Hence me not wanting to give up on my U1, which had none of the problems I'm encountering with the U22.

Thanks for all of your help so far.

I used a fairly new SanDisk 32g. I have not tried it on my U22 as I don't have a need, I am trying to get my U1 to do something other than constantly rebooting. I am sure I have the correct legacy files for the U1 and have copied and renamed the correct file to the root of the SD Card. I get the same result with a USB drive and a SD Card, screen hangs on the Minix logo with the green android.

Please also see my reply to Marty above. Thanks for trying to help.

I would like to see if you can restore a TWRP image on the U1, I will PM you details but please be patient as it won't be immediate as I need to create the back up first.

So would I. But no hurry, please take your time. I really appreciate all of your help and assistance so far, which I send you many thanks for.

Hooray, progress at last. I have had to use a USB drive or a SD Card as I could not get the USB Burner to connect to my old laptop, no matter what I tried. So I spent my time downloading and installing different versions until I found one that would connect, V2.1.9 did the trick. So I installed the Marshmallow from this site, which worked first time and did not reboot, brilliant. I then reinstalled the latest KitKat version and it was straight back to the bootlooping. Therefore I have to conclude that there's something about the FW013 that makes my U1 constantly reboot. It has been on the FW013 for quite a while and I don't remember making any changes before it went into the constant bootlooping, so I'm unable to understand what's causing it. I think I will try FW012 if it's available and see what that does, also look at the differences between the two ROM's to see if there's any clues there.

I really want to thank everyone here who has tried to help me. Best regards to all.
