U9-H-CE FW001 Android 7.1.2 20191120 [Community Edition Nougat Firmware]

VPN Kill switch?

Hello!

After some years on coreelec on my u9-h I flashed this 7.1.2 rom to get Kodi 19.3. It is working well except VPN. I would like to block the communication if it is not connected to VPN. I am using nordvpn android client and tried openvpn client as well. I read that on android 8 it is working, but not on 7. Is there some recommended way to fix this?

I have maybe a stupid question but am wondering why we don’t have an automatic update in ours devices.
I mean, minix neo u9-h cost 200 euros with android 6. When we spend this price, updating must be as good as the price. I have to spend Time to find an update myself here, to do the staff my self and am not sure that this will works. Am not ok with this, for this price the campany must give us à better services, its just unbelevable. In plus the update stop at android version7.

Totally agree. This is not only the case with the u9 but with all versions.
 
Hi i from singapore, i bought minix neo u9-h. Can i upgrade to this firmware? Does it work well? Sorry a noob here tks
 
You could flash this firmware and see if you like. The flashing process can be funky make sure you have a good cable otherwise failure during flashing occurs.
 
Thanks to the people behind this, I got a cheap U9 and installed it last week.

Anyone who tried both this and the SBX AOSP from here:

Which is better? I'm wondering if I should switch to AOSP 9.8 (which I believe is Pie?) or stick to Nougat CE. Doing the USB hardware mod wouldn't be an issue.
 
I have been using slimboxTV for a few months now and it is definitely a winner. The positive is that it is android 9, and it does supports many of the current TV apps. It's also very zippy compared to the CE edition. On the con side, it does not power off but rather sleeps. I simply unplug it when I want full power off.

I've flashed both just to see if they work.

I want to like Android TV but I just keep coming back to AOSP!
Another reason why our 2015 Shield has had so very little use over the years.

Although we do use a Fire TV stick daily!
 
Hello, i tried many times install 7.1.2 on U9 but every time it fails. Does not matter if i use the USB Burning Tool or via usb directly to U9 i get failures. Is there any detailed guide or alternative method?

After a couple years of buying minix, i defintely said good bye to it.
minix is a great prodcut in the beginning, but no updates! and after 2 3 years, you cannot install new apps because of old version of android. and if you are lucky some developpers outside the firm comes with a custom firmware ! i just buy buy the nvidia shield pro and i am very happy with it (constant support and updates)
no more 1000 hours spending in installing custom firmwares of things like that!
