is it worth it or should we wait??

I have just taken a look at Nova Launcher in the Play Store, must check it out sometime, Launcher3 has seemed to work for me, but the icon graphics can be a bit poor especially using Firefox, so thanks for alerting me to Nova.

Nova launcher is one I have been using for years. And was able to purchase the updated version for a few pennies on a special offer.
On the U9h, it never had an issue. But if you check the bug reports, you will see the problems on the U22.

I managed to copy it from my U9h and send it to my u22 and with some fettling, it is fine.
Still unable to access widgets or drag and drop from apps to launcher.
Hopefully, Minix will find a fix.

With Nova as your active launcher hold the menu button on your remote until bottom navigation bar toggles on or off. Now head into Nova Settings>Gestures and set home button to app drawer. Now, make sure "Only on main home page" is selected. Afterwards set long-press menu to app search. Return to your home screen and hold the menu button until the app search mini menu appears. You should be able to drag and drop app short cuts from this mini menu. To make a widget drag and drop an app short cut. Long click the newly created short cut. Click on widget from the mini menu. You should be able to now make a widget. Delete the app short cut if desired. Since the home button now works as both your home and app drawer button you can delete the short cut to the apps drawer.

Wow! Thank you so much. Absolutely brilliant??
Now, I have my launcher with the apps from my apps drawer that I could not previously move. 5stars sir!!

Hi
Fernando could you explain with a video? because I personally apologize, I just can't do it.

Nice share & thanks for taking the time to help other forum members, & U22 end users making the video :)!! Hopefully it'll be helpful for some who have been struggling to get some of these features successfully configured etc.

Will just add that it may also help to make a quick edit to your post for those who completely lack even the most basic powers of observation, (no names lol ;) )...

"Minix Neo U22-XJ: Nova Launcher short cut and widget tutorial <--- Click to view the tutorial."

You can guarantee one or more bright spark's will eventually post to ask "where is the tutorial?", hehe ;)

(Along with others, I also found it very quick & convenient to copy my Nova Launcher export/backup file from my U9-H where I already have Nova completely configured exactly how I like it, then simply copy that backup file over to the U22 & import it into Nova to instantly configure it all the same way :). (Some app icons may be greyed out but they can just be left in place as required, & they'll also become active & functional as soon as the relevant app is installed.))

(P.S. Don't forget to connect to your Wi-Fi ;)!!!!)

I decided to do the tutorial from a factory reset, because I forget what settings I changed to make things easier for me, hence the WiFi oversight.

I have already done what Fernando says in a previous post and it works.
But, I do not understand the need to enable WiFi.
I did my nova rearranging of widgets on ethernet.
I would be grateful if you would explain the need for wi fi to carry out this function. Maybe I missed something?

I have downloaded the latest Nova update. But, I am still unable to drag widgets from the Nova app drawer.?

I like being as wireless as possible.

LOL, sorry Dak ;).....

Ethernet is absolutely fine mate ;). (In fact, wired is the preferred option in most cases for obvious reasons but it's not always possible or practical for absolutely everyone, or it's subjective too, some just want less wires everywhere. (Or, the wife/girlfriend makes it clear there'll be domestic trouble if all the untidy cabling isn't tidied away lol :).) However, that too is obviously subjective too & some users simply either want or need WiFi instead. Most of my static devices are hard wired where possible, for example, but that's my preference too.

Having said that, I've never experienced any issues at all testing any of the MINIX devices over WiFi either. They've all performed very well in all respects, including the higher demand applications such as streaming the largest 4K media files with HD audio flawlessly over WiFi :).

(I was just joking with/about Fernando forgetting to connect his device to his WiFi/network before he started his tutorial video lol ;).)
