No doubt it is SAFE to buy but it is looking like it was released before it was fully tested which is a shame cause i was really looking forward to this box
And yeah it is the GROWING PAINS i am trying to avoid when spending this kind of money for an android box. And yeah i have been reviewing the BUG TRACKER thread, hence my post. Thanks

I think I will just keep using the U9h and keep an eye on the bug tracker reports.
Such a shame after all the marketing hype and constant delays of the launch.
But, I truly hope that minix get these issues resolved ASAP.

MINIX are not alone obviously, but they truly had some absolutely awful bad luck with the timing of everything as the outbreak was emerging & the lockdowns began in earnest. Not to mention the global nightmare it's since evolved into & the lives it's sadly taken or directly affected .
Hey bud, you still enjoying the vortex galaxy/galaxy pack live wallpapers or have you moved on to something different for a change lol??? I still keep coming back to it if I try something different for a while .
It's installed & been working fine on the U22 so far too BTW. I still generally have my favourite No.6 Hextor too. (Nova Launcher also works OK so far if you still use that too, although some have reported partial issues of widgets not adding. Personally, I simply took my export/backup file of my Nova settings from my U9-H & simply imported it to the U22. It will immediately place all your icons up as arranged but some will remain greyed out until you actually install the same apps on the U22 as well. Once installed the icons become available & functional .)
The U22 wasn't subject to constant delays. The original release date was put back once from 02 March to 30 March specifically because of the virus outbreak (if my tiny tired memory is remembering correctly lol ).
I can understand your hesitation to avoid any personal disappointment mate, honestly I can!! Don't forget the bug tracker is the reports we do see of end users that are experiencing a problem. There are potentially numbers of U22 users out there who may not be experiencing any issues who just don't create user accounts & simply report in on the forums that "all is well".
However, until you actually try your new device you just won't know which side of that particular line you may come down on. It could also still possibly be of assistance to yourself & others by reporting any issues you may experience, & providing details of your connected hardware. The more data MINIX are provided with based on the sheer array of hardware we're all using, the greater the possibility that it could help them determine potential causes or narrow down if some hardware is affected or not. (Even the unpleasant growing lists of bug reports can potentially help MINIX once enough relevant data is provided & it can all be looked at.)
Even if you just bring the U22 online for the purposes of confirmation, you can always immediately return to your proven U9-H again if you should encounter a problem to wait for further news or updates.

You make two good points. Firstly, there may be others out there who have received their U22s andf have not experienced any issues. Perhaps it might be an idea to run a poll of those people, which would give an overall balanced view.
Secondly, you are absolutely right that I should plug my box in and see what transpires either way. This information, as you rightly point out will help Minix. So, when it arrives , I will do a report anyway , good or bad with TV type, connection and internet speed, along with any other info that might help. If the U22 casues too many headaches, I will just plug the U9h back in until Minix come up with a solution for the U22.
When I mentioned the delays; I meant from the original show in Berlin, back in the distant past to their announcement of release dates, it went from October 2019 to December etc etc. It was not meant as a criticism, but one of disappointment, having released it after these delays, that some people were encountering numerous issues.

How did you back up and transfer all your apps on Nova etc to your new U22........USB from backups or ???? or from the Nova settings...or????

I constantly make backups of apps {everytime there is an update) to a micro SD card using the ES File Explorer apps backup feature.
With the U22-XJ I too used a Nova Backup from the U9. It displays the desktop with greyed out icons if the apps aren't installed.
I insert the micro SD and install from there.
I will have also have made Setting/history backups of any apps that I have adjusted the settings or have a history, for example ES File Explorer and certain Media apps. Those I import back to the apps once installed.

Many thanks for the information. I have installed ES File Explorer Pro. I have navigated to Library....Apps...User Apps and all my downloaded apps are there. But I have searched the menu on the left hand side and cannot find anywhere that shows "backup apps".
Or is it because I have downloaded the wrong ES File explorer and should have downloaded the normal ES File Explorer and not the pro version?
Perhaps you could point me in the right direction.

I'll try to help
FRom the main es front page select the APP icon
This will list all your apps
Press and hold on each app that you want to back up...it shows a green tick
then goto the bottom of the screen and select backup
it tells you where it has backed upto
then navigate there to copy to your sd card

Many thanks. I had stopped using ES File Explorer becasue of the various negative reports from Tech expert sites. But have done as you said and all is well. Thank you.
I followed your instructions to the letter. My SD card is set up as portable storage. So that may be the first mistake I have made.
In settings of ES File explorer, I have set this up and it was successful. When I have backed up the apps it, it has shown the location of SD card as the location of back up. When I open the SD card it shows as empty. So therefore I cannot copy and paste. Apologies if I am appearing as a numpty.
When I revert to settings within the Minix.....storage and backup, the amount of internal storage has increased by the size of the backup. So obviously the backup is going there instead of the SD Card, despite ES Filke explorer telling me that the backup location is SD card/apps
