Libreelec Minix U9-H

sorry guys, in the instructions it says:
  • S912: You need to choose device tree according to your Ethernet port speed and RAM amount.
What's that exactly?

Is it already included in the IMG file or do I need to download and copy to the SD card? (And where is the download for the u9-h?)

It's a separate file you can download elsewhere.

  • Download a device tree as instructed above and rename it to dtb.img. Copy the renamed file to main folder of SD card/USB drive - replace the one that's already there.

By "main folder", it means the device_trees folder? or is it the root folder? Which img file needs to be replaced? There is only the kernel.img file in the root folder.
I don't quite understand, instructions not clear
I had a Minix X8h-plus with libreelec on a sd card, working great, but did not have to modify any of the the tree files...

My u9-h is arriving tomorrow morning.

I have found and downloaded the device tree from wrxtasy - dtb.img - I will copy this to the root folder and then try and boot from sd card by holding the start button for 6 seconds, I think that's the right procedure? fingers crossed...

Install the main image file on your SD card and download the S912 devices tree then follow this :

  • Download a device tree as instructed above and rename it to dtb.img. Copy the renamed file to main folder of SD card/USB drive - replace the one that's already there.
That's all ;)

Ok guys, I know this is a really stupid question, but when I go to the download page I see *.img.gz and *.tar files. Which one do I download, or do I need to download BOTH?

And if I only need one, what is the difference and why would I use one over the other?

Download img.gz
Flash it with Rufus or another tool then change the device tree with the s912 one.

Could you be more specific. Sorry, but all this flashing roms is new to me. Rufus I know, and have, as I use it to make a bootable windows image for installation from a USB drive.

I have used the Amlogic USB Burning Tool to flash new firmware to my Minix boxes, and that pretty much sums up my knowledge.

Is there a way to use the USB Burning Tool to flash the U9-H?

I use the creator tool
https://libreelec.tv/2016/08/usb-sd-creator/
(select the win. version)

Libreelec
https://forum.libreelec.tv/thread/5556-howto-faq-install-community-builds-on-s905-s905d-s905w-s905x-s912-device/

download the .tar file
https://github.com/wrxtasy/LibreELEC.tv/releases/tag/8.2.4.1

download the device tree (is on that github page)
New S912 device trees needed for GPU Overclocking
download map
Oclock-GPU-new-device-trees-S912

download this file
gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dtb
[ THIS IS THE FILE THAT SHOULD BE RENAMED TO dtb.img ]

Open program creator tool
choose version [amlogic s905/s/d/w]
select the .tar file of LE or CE
write to your SD card

write the dtb.img into the root of your sd card and you are set

CoreElec
https://discourse.coreelec.org/

https://github.com/CoreELEC/CoreELEC/releases

download the .tar file...
also unzip
CoreELEC-S912.arm-8.95.5\3rdparty\bootloader\device_trees
gxm_q200_2g_minix_neo_u9.dtb this file should be renamed to dtb.img and put into root
the zipped tar file you can write like LE in the creator tool

Thank you for the booting/installation walkthrough. Really helpful.

Currently I am running LE from an SD Card and I am encountering some issues with "data rate too slow". Is this because I am running from the SD Card, or because of the USB 2 ports? I should mention I have my movies on hard disks that are connected to the U9-H via USB. Would installing LE internally solve the data rate issue?

The highest data stream is 150Mbps. It is 4K 4:2:2 10 bit video directly out of a Panasonic GH5.

Oh, another issue (minor) is, how do I go about setting the date and time on the box?

How to set time in Kodi
  1. From the Kodi main menu, navigate to Settings > Interface > Regional
  2. Make sure your settings level is set to Expert and if it isn’t, click on it until you are.
  3. Scroll down to your time zone and make sure it is correct.
The USB issue I don't know what problem it could be
